View Full Version : it's time to make a modders guide
I think it's time we convert some of these guides and discussions to html web pages,
we have 9 pinned topics,
if i write them all to html we can have one pinned thread with links to them all,
Does anyone have any content to add to such a site???
It will be a subset of the org.
any threads i have not yet pinned, bump them and post a link in here,
if you have any guides you would like to add please email me barocca_x@hotmail.com,
any other ideas welcome
:-)
Barocca, I have started complieing a complete guide on modding, including the different files that you can edit.
Was origianlly doing it in conjunction with Wellingtons Animation Guide.
Still lots to do though.

Barocca/Fenir,
I'll try the Guide finished before Xmas. Note there ARE a few changes/corrections in the text I have on my PC. This text will be sent to Fenir ASAP.
regards,
Welly.

the whole idea is we can have these online at the org,
(i'll include the relevent threads Q&A sections)
and we can have a single pinned topic that we can direct people to, and from there they select the relevant pages where can read what we already know, and then they can ask any further questions here in the forum.

Borroca,
When I complete the guide, I will put it in a zip file for download, and if you want i will do a "html" verision if you want?
I have taken some of the other threads from peoples postings and have included them into the write up i am doing.
Alrowan,
That would great. I am trying to put together a complete listing, so anyone can read it and start modding.
Sort of like the be all and end all of modding.

No rush Wellington, just when you can.

don't worry about converting your guides to html,
the org uses shtml (with virtual include statements),
so i'd just have to reformat them anyway,
do include any pictures that help explain,
and a map making guide would be most helpful
:-)
ok, ill get on it early next week, ill have some time then
thanks
all those ideas are great,
btw,
for some of the simple Q's, we can make an FAQ of sorts
here are the first 2 entries
How Do I change Landbridges?
http://www.totalwar.org//DungeonGuides/Landbridges_how_to_change.htm
Content of the LocFiles
http://www.totalwar.org//DungeonGuides/Loc_Files_content.htm
I figure we can just keep adding the short, easy to explain threads to that,
if anyone would like to nominate some more threads for the FAQ, please do,
they are fairly easy to edit into the format of these two...
(and it's a lazy way to make an FAQ, but hey - if we all had the time to do everything we want we would have starship troopers mod for medieval by now)
3 more
How Do I reset the Date?
http://www.totalwar.org//DungeonGuides/how_do_i_reset_the_date.htm
Can maps be autodownloaded? (No - read more)
http://www.totalwar.org//DungeonGuides/Auto_downloading_of_maps.htm
All About the Starspots/Spawn Points for Maps
http://www.totalwar.org//DungeonGuides/The_start_spots_on_map.htm
NOW
i have closed and unpinned several topics which have been transferred to the FAQ,
The FAQ is pinned to the top of this first page
the editing guides are a seperate issue, so guys, please keep the editing guides coming and they will becaome a part of the Org's Dungeon Guides...
