Hello, everyone!
I am a big EB fan, but a completely inexperienced modder. Besides the usual problems (poor AI, especially diplomacy-wise, and so on...) my biggest issue in EB is traveling distance. I am not the first one to notice, naturally, that moving an army across Italy from Alps to the southern tip shouldn't last 4 turns (1 year), it's just ridiculous. The solution would be to increase the "Action Points" FM's get to, let's say, 200%. Now, the trip would take 6 months. This creates another problem: foreign armies could march huge distances in one turn, besieging your cities from within the FoW.
Now, as a complete neewb, I ask of you: Would it be possible to specify the number of "Action points" depending on whether the army is marching in home or in foreign territory? For example, one could use (If current setup is regarded as 100%) 150% or 180% as values for travel within ones borders, and 80% or 90% for travel in foreign territory. This would also make sense, conceptually, because if you are moving in your territory you have numerous factors increasing the speed: knowledge of the surroundings, efficient use of the infrastructure, easier access to resources and so on. While marching in foreign territory all of these work in the other direction.
So my question is: Could this be done, and do you think it would make sense in doing it?
