failed to find steam

I installed EB to my steamapps folder but when I open EBplay shortcut a window pops up saying "failed to find steam". I tried it with steam open but no dice. :help:

Be sure to check the EB-FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854) if you are complete new to the mod.
I do not posses Steam, but maybe the hints mentioned in this thread (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=272823) will help you.
