View Full Version : No one attacks me...so far.

I read quite a few posts of people who claim that they face harder opponents who attack with huge armies.

In my campaign as KH I only had to fight two big armies Mak. and Epeiros and even them they were not full stacks.

With unit size at huge, is it so difficult for the AI to find the manpower, or is it something else?

I'm looking forward to feedback from anyone but more from the seasoned EB commanders.

Thanks!

I play at large with the Seleukids and my wars will all end soon! Then I can have a very peaceful campaign if I wish, because:

- Saka (almost), Baktria, Saba, Koinon Hellenon and Pontos are dead.
- Romani and Makedonia are my allies.
- Hayasdan wont attack me because they are too busy fighting on the steppes against the Sauromatae.
- Sauromatae other way around.
- Ptolemaioi reduced to Kyrene
- Pahlavans reduced to Massagetae.
- I dont border the Qarthadastim (I dont have Kyrene)
- Epeiros can't take Nikaia (they control Pella and Byzantion), if they do, which they barely can, it will keep revolting to the Getai.

So yea, its quite peaceful.

I am assuming you are in early stage of campaign.

Greek mainland factions get some quiet time once they kick other 2 from Greece, since everyone else is to busy with neighboring Eleutheroi.

Give AI time to build up and it will change. Or try invading Italian peninsula. Romani will come at you with everything they got rather promptly to oblige you.Ultimately, if you want insta action try playing Eastern factions (any that is located across Bosporus) or invade something there with KH.

what difficulty level are you at?

Max difficulty for campaign. The only faction that attacked me by now is the Pontus but I have my hands full. I attacked Carthage, AS and the Sarmatians. I have t fronts with them. Thace, Crimea and Trapezous. And I would like to take the Scordisci.

hope I can fullfill my obligation here: yeah, huge unit sizes can delay the real action (Romani and Steppe aside), for a much longer time. the reason is because, while the units get bigger, the cities do not grow correspondingly so, so armies become a huge drain on the population, and consequently, there are fewer armies in the begining*. it does heat up after a while though. even then though, its arguably easier to bring a faction down, since (army resource wise), deporting or exterminating the population will hit the ilitary harder. at least with my Vestatio technique (the most blasphemous approach to war since Sherman :clown:)

I myself normally play on large, not huge-my computer is more likely to CTD with Huge, though I have made improvements to the operation of the machinery.

*it doesn't help the AI that it is constantly training boatloads of men, in comparison to most human players.

The A.I. actually gets part of their population replenished, so don't expect them to run out of population as fast as you do. This feature was implemented because the vanilla A.I. did not take population into account and would deplete smaller towns rather than allow them to grow.

Does the replenish population script actually take account of what unit size you're using, Normal, Large or Huge? Or does it just assume you're on Normal size?

AFAIK the script adds 200 men to a city per unit recruited.

So not playing on huge makes AI city grow like mad.
Problems may arise when the AI recruits nothing but units with 240 men in it.
