It is in the sale at direct to drive and i was considering buying it. I looked on metacritic and the user reviews range from savage (several 0's) to glowing (9-10)

Does anyone own this game? if so what is your fair opinion of it?

I think I tried the demo but I didn't like it (I don't remember specifics other than I gave up on it pretty quickly). Can't hurt for you to look that up.

From the little I've read of it, it's mostly a trading game. You'll fight a few battles at sea, but that's not the core of the game. I think the expansions added more fighting to the game. Also patch up if the copy D2D has isn't the latest, I've read the game is very buggy as well.
