This evening, to celebrate, I will go down to my alottment, harrass some worms, and drink a few bottles of ale.
And while I am there I might just contemplate cricket, the english countryside and er.. other stuff.

Why is it repeating the word 'ale'? I tried to edit it, and it only appears once. Perhaps vbulletin is feeling the spirit of St George (who was probably t-total, and Syrian).

Although, have they managed to get a St.George's Parade going in Bradford or other cities this year? Had a few English mates who were pretty miffed about parades being cancelled because of Muslim protests regarding the flag.

It does that sometimes with the last word in a sentence, no idea how to fix it.

I heard the flag tends to get associated with racism and the far-right, although the ordinary people were starting to claim it back for themselves in much the same way as the Saltire or the Welsh flag are used.

These stories get created by rightwing sympathisers. Nothing ever gets cancelled 'because of mooslims' - they just make the s*^% up to get it in the paper.
If the English have allowed their flag to be adopted as a far right symbol, it's their own fault.

A Very English Story.
George, before the become Saint, was a Turk (Cappadocia). Coming in England probably illegally and without a proper job (worked in a pub as barman without been declared and pay taxes). Dealing with clients, serving at the bar providing ale, beer and other spirits he came up with this story that he killed a dragon.
The English believed him. Surely dragons were alive in Cappadocia. None question the fact that the dragon was so old that it was probably a merciful killing if it happened as nobody else so a dragon in Cappadocia after this.
Well, perhaps because another one killed a dragon, but where?
St Michael, and he became the Saint of Paratroopers. And he was as Archangel… Anyway…
It is probably a George’s story as other Georges sold the same story to Moscow and Serbia where St George is always Saint Protectors.
Well, the fact is that England had a Saint. Saint Edward, aka The Confessor, and English native who doing a good job, curing the sufferers and the ecrouelles, basic job for Saints
But he was English.
When a Kings of Foreign extraction came to power in UK in 1066, it was thanks to him.
And what did their ungrateful heirs? It started with Richard Heart of Lion. Yes, the one who wanted to sell London.
They put this Turk at his job. They changed the locks of his office, gave him his P45, and the emigrant put the native out of job…

quite so, and i shouldn't take fun in mocking your dreams, still, never got too fussed about Georges today as i have always considered myself British rather than English.
Who decides on these "days" anyway? I know Saint Days are all listed by the catholic church, but every week is like "It is talk like a pirate day!" and other such nonsense.

Well, on the "Subotan's Dreams" list, it's pretty low down on the list, well below writing for Private Eye, becoming an astronaut, speaking German fluently etc., So mock all you want :D

I've run through the odd dragon now and again in my day. Like they say, "I've never been to bed with an ugly woman but......."
