Hey lads,

after reading the (amazing) preview of the Pritanoi, I remembered reading somewhere that tattooing was also common among the nobility of the Thracian and Scythian tribes.
The very well preserved body of a 50 BC scythian chief was found a while ago in central asia: http://www.tattooschreiber.de/mediac/400_0/media/DIR_109/TattooSchreiber.de~p34.jpg
Here are the designs: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3239/2927833512_5f9c203ba4.jpg?v=0

I thought it might be of interest to you.

The Scythian tattoos have already been incorperated into Sauromatae units, you can see them in the preview for that faction (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?123266-Preview-The-Sauromatae&highlight=preview).

Yeah, the little details are often quite significant, in spite of their size. Always read the fine print, lol.

There are many details like that, which pass unnoticed in the previews and videos: designs on torcs and fibulae, small tatoos, small facial scars, engravings on the swords (generals and elites), details of the sword pommels, etc.

I wonder if these tattoos were permanent, or were they just made for the battles?

Well, judging by the fact that they stayed on that guy's skin for more than 2000 years, I guess they were permanent.
