Sound problem

When I'm playing EB, the music is getting muffled at times.

Changing the sound settings doesn't resolve anything.
I tested my sound card; "device is working properly", sound plays normally when I use winamp, media player, old school emulators, so it's probably an EB thing.

Now, I had a somehow similar problem a year ago; I turned on my computer to notice I had no sound anymore, whatever the application.
Checked everything, no anomalies. I deinstalled/reinstalled my sound driver for my motherboard, no result.
I worked around the problem by reinstalling my old sound card, it worked fine, as it does now outside of EB.

Did someone encounter a similar problem ? Any lead ?

Can you try RTW vanilla and see if there is the same error?
Try to juggle with the audio settings in the menu, try to select another outgoing machine, maybe this does the trick.
Are there any energy saving options regarding your sound card?
