So i've migrated my Romans all over the map.
I've got the Augustan reforms from turn 3 by cheating, so i can build legionaries and auxiliary cohorts almost everywhere west of the Ural.

I teleported my fm's to the Buridavae, hoping to be able to recruit them fancy falx-dudes, what's it called, the special ones, Germanic dudes...
Well, that didn't work out, just some Germanic spear levies for the Romans there. Built highways and maximum trade ports in Buridavae, Olbia and Chersonesos and left, giving the Sauromatae and Getae something worth fighting over...

Then i teleported to Ireland, the land of the Ire. Built up slowly there, hoping to be able to resist attacking the Casse.
Well, that didn't work out. So i attacked them and realized they were no match for me so after some conquering and ultimately by force-diplomacy i switched positions with them, after process_cqueing' maximum ports, mines and highways so they'd have some economy.

I'm building up the English mainland now, keeping the Caledonians Eleutheroi as a buffer between me and the Casse. Arverni have all but kicked Aedui out of Gallia. Epeiros has taken all of Italy, save Mediolanum (Aedui).
I've invaded the Arverni a couple of times to "blood" family members. (blooding is my baptizing-ritual in TW)

It bugs me Chersonesos keeps revolting to me. I thought it would revolt to the Koine, but maybe because i upgraded the palace there it revolts to Romans now? This opens perspectives for future games...

Also the Italian Epeirote settlements keep revolting to me. That sucks also.

But the reason for this thread is hopefully you can give me some suggestions on how to play from here. I don't really want any provinces on the continent. Not to soon anyway. I could defend the Aedui (still in the southern Belgae province and in Mediolanum) from the Averni. But i like the trade coming from the Averni, who hold almost entire Gaul.

Will not having Rome be a bad thing for the development of my character traits?

Anyone has nice ideas/inspiration. I'm a roleplayer. My Romans are in fact uber-Celts. My faction leader's name is Brittanicus.

BTW: How do i get the text in a post normal, not column-wise, but text(book)wise, it's really bugging me to have to read on this forum.

edit: looks like i did it... been screwin around so much i don't know how i did it now... You guys should make it standard settings...
edit2 nope i didn't. Really any moderators see this?
I wouldn't want to read my own post in this format. Please change those standard settings. Noone likes this. It's hellish to read.

Yeah, those forums where you actually have to read are so annoying, wonder why people make them...

I have honestly no idea why this happens. It was a problem just after the forum upgrade, but our administrator changed some settings and it was solved. Maybe you should ask him (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/member.php?6381-TosaInu)?

Funny. In a Jehova's Witness kinda way. I mean the vertically oriented posts. It's like a newspaper, and the endless scrolling that it inflicts upon readers reminds of unfoldable newspapers.

But uhm, you're a veteran here... Any suggestions on what i could do now?

I have a suggestion.
Start a new campaign and play without cheating.
It works for me.

Migrate somewhere with the KH. That's always fun.

Migrate to West Africa and try to hold back Carthage with Numidian units. So the only real infantry you will get are Garamantines, the rest will be assorted skirmishers and missile cavalry. Would be a real challenge I think.

Some of those units are surprisingly powerful. That would be fun.

Oi mate, don't like to read newspapers or somethin' yea? My old man loves to read newspapers, did ya know that? so does the 95 year old neighbor of mine who catered to Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt God knows how long ago in their first conference together during the War. If indeed there is only one way of reading these forums, what in God's name can you, I, or any body else do about it? If we could, we would've done something by now, don't ya think so?

As for the game...you say you're a roleplayer? I like to roleplay too once in a while. It spices things up. But when I'm in a sticky situation like the one you're in, I like to go to the saved campaigns folder, delete the God forsaken campaign, and start afresh. How's that for a role?

Good luck pal.

What about using the KH to migrate to Pergamon/Bosphoros/Syrakousai/Massilia/Magna Graecia/Kyrene

I think, with some edit in EDB to made cammilan triarii trainable in all provinces with all barracks, move the Romans into Pergamon or Nikaia, and start a Trojan campaign...

I think, with some edit in EDU to made cammilan triarii trainable in all provinces with all barracks, move the Romans into Pergamon or Nikaia, and start a Trojan campaign...

I'd like something like that. Since i've got these Augustan reforms on third turn, i miss my triarii a bit. Could give some more info on how to change EDU? (And what it is?)

I did quit that campaign, am now Macedonia in Sicilia. But the AI Roman now only trains vigiles....
Does anyone have the original entry for the Roman reforms, the original EB text?
Any help would be appreciated.

Just use the unedited EB script you copied before you made changes (rule no.1 of modding).

You'll need to change the EDB, not the EDU, to make units trainable elsewhere.

What cavalry would Troy have?

What cavalry would Troy have?

Troy was a quite small city, I don't think they had a serious cavalry force to speak of.

Conquering Casse by 265 is always fun.

What cavalry would Troy have?

Troy wouldn't have had cavalry, all they would have would be some medium and infantry. Besides, the Trojan war occurred about 900 years before this game.

Yes, i know the Trojan war was way before 272BC (if it ever happened), but then again apart from Pytheas, no Greek should see the Isles in the games time frame either. :p

Koinon Hellenon seems to be the popular faction for migrations. Because there's a lot of Greek settlements around the med? Well, if you give yourself the Augustan reforms early you really have an unrivaled AOR from the British Isles, through Germania up until the Crimea, from Gibraltar to Seleukos: Legionarries for everyone.

One thing about a Roman migration: could it be that a prospective triumphator doesn't get any children until he has had his triumph? My Brittannicus, despite having a fertile (wise, healthy) wife and being fertile himself got no kids. One of the surviving Blasio sons, prospective triumphator, stopped after 2 daughters. The one survivng Blasio who is still green has 4 kids.

Another thing you can do is play as Saba and migrate to either India or Ethiopia and role-play it as one of them. Or just play as Saba, they have it hard enough...
You don't even really have to cheat for those.

I would, because instinctively Saba appeals to me. But i want to build roads. I want to bring civilization to the regions i conquer, and roads are the most visible attribute in EBRTW of civilization. Is there a way to edit the Saba (or any other faction) so they can build roads?

Rahl

Edit the EDB.
It's easy. Search the paved roads entry and insert saba to the factions who can build them. I tested this for sweboz one time and they where named celtic roads (culture thing i think) and had no description but i worked fine. If you want a despriction you must edit some other file but i don't know that one.
I don't know if it's that easy for the nomads since all other cultures have a least one faction who can build paved roads but neither Sauros or Saka can build them. But i think there are some people here who know this much better than me.
