As those boards dont have much activity yet, i though about showing you guys how the development of my mod is going, i am starting work on the campaign map and here is a sketch i made a few minutes ago

the number of seas and provinces is obviously wrong, but do you like the shape of the continent and islands?
dwarves will be in the SW, orcs on the NW, elves and humans in the middle and halflings safe in the SE islands...

looks pretty cool to me man. the only thing that might have to be taken into account is that some races appear to have most of their territories in mountainous areas while others have flatlands(ie the islands). sortve unfair if they get to defend in mountainous areas all the time.

not to worry, you can add/change mountains everywhere, those islands can be volcanic and the mainland can be plains, but we will try to get a balance so its fair for everyone

As you can see, i can sketch anything in it:

Now the real challenge is finding a program to make this map look nice in-game (maybe using the same map making utility CA uses?)

Paintshop Pro 7, thats the best out there for creating images.

well i use psp7 for all my graphics work, that and photoshop... but photshop is really a wast of money

anyway, for the differnet races/terrain, you could give them more advantages for that terrain, eg. plains-horses, hills/mtns-bows/inf forests-h2h mele units

things like that all need to be considered

Hmm ppl here seem to love PSP7.. do i have to pay for it?
i use photoshop because i didnt have to pay for it, well, i had, but it was so cheap its inst even funny (gotta love brazil).
i used PSP once, but it was version 4.0, very crappy old stuff...
where can I find it anyways?

Mine is simply a demo that I trick by turning my date back to make sure the trial doesn't end, which has it's pro's and con's.

I'd keep with the style you have right now, I think it's a really nice fantasy style and it would be original, and if you made the peices of the armies and kings etc that style too it would look really something.

Campaign cartographer 2, from Pro Fantasy (http://www.profantasy.com)
its pretty crappy, but for sketching, it does the job

I though you would look on the website to find out, but if you are lazy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif i will tell you:
nope, it a trial version, it has all functions but not all symbols, therefore, not much diversity on the visual department... still perfect for sketching and making nice borders and coasts with its fractal utility

lol I was busy with something at the time dude so didn't have the chance to have a look myself, hopefully it can help me with what I've got planned.
