View Full Version : Why on earth is it so cold?

Its been hovering around fifty degrees F for three days now. :furious3: I'm taking summer classes, and well... I'm hoping that summer actually gets off its lazy rear and arrives. It had been peaking near seventy for about two weeks straight, and now its decided to knock things down a few notches. Knock it off and give me warmth!
It's because there is a quota for world heat, and as it is currently mid 20s here in at the end of autumn we are eating into your quota. Many apologies.
Your weird numbers aren't telling me much (unlike Psycho's) but it's quite a bit too cold here as well, and the forecast isn't great either so far.
My main gripe is that this costs money, I already had to pay >300€ for heating last year and now I'm almost at the same numbers... :furious3:

Its global warming

Global warming actually is thought to cause wild temperature fluctuations (either hot or cold) so that is possibly true.
Of course, it really isn't that cold out.
Yes, it's not been that great here either. Hovering around 10 degrees Celsius (you re-calculate it, obnoxious Murikans). But I went out to dinner with two Egyptian Arabs who are flying back...about now, actually, and they said that the weather in Caïro was around 42 degrees Celsius, which is insane for May.

Pft. It's Global Cooling. Which we've predicted since the 1970's.
But no...you people wouldn't listen.

Maybe that volcano has cooled things a bit??????
It snowed heavily for hours in Oslo last tuesday (green grass got a snow cover of a couple of centimeters), and it snowed a bit today as well. Odd stuff.

Maybe that volcano has cooled things a bit??????
That could be one of the explanations.
Its global warming climate change
Obviously. You wouldn't so something so silly as to confuse the weather with the climate, right?
The world is running out of life energy.
We must act stopping the hate and spreading more love.

We'll need an army of super-virile men scoring 'round the clock! I'll do my part. Kif, clear my schedule.

i dont pay attentions to things i think are bull my dear boy.
Response to the survey question "Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?" (Doran 2009 (http://tigger.uic.edu/%7Epdoran/012009_Doran_final.pdf)) General public data come from a 2008 Gallup poll (http://www.gallup.com/poll/1615/Environment.aspx).

the world goes through cycles and its conceited to believe our impact is that large.
My geography teacher used to say something like that, said it was arrogant to think we can make such a big difference to the planet.
I don't buy that line of thought though, all it takes is some very, very minor changes on the surface of the planet, and then our whole way of existence is gone.
And stop getting all Backroomish, you're supposed to be spreading love!

Ah well, God gave the Ozzies deadly snakes and spiders the size of monster trucks in retaliation. :shame:
I was going to say that it has been cold here in Sydney recently, but according to those two it's warm for this time of year. Will I ever get used to this bloody southern weather!?

Tuesday was very warm, today (wed) not so, though still sunny. The weather here is warm compared to many places, and that may or may not be a good thing for you.
I'm used to the temperature staying between 20C and 30C. Daytime temps below 20C are not very common in my home town. Tuesday was only nice in the middle of the afternoon for a few hours, the rest of the day was still far too cold for my liking. I've already spent one winter in Sydney and I have to say I'm not really looking forward to another.

Guys, guys you've all got it wrong. Following on the back of the propaganda that octo-squids are slow coaches, (yeah right!), they've unleashed the first wave of attack.
Penquins.
If out on ones contitutional, one finds oneself confronted by a group of vicious, heavily armed penquins. Then all I can say is that it's too late pal. You should have made a will. :skull:
Beware the penquins.

Or... perhaps your views are a result of the "brainwashing"? Setting aside the "global warming" debate for the moment - mankind is busy wrecking the planet. This is undeniable. Once the wreckage is complete, there won't be many left arguing about whether global warming is happening or not.

It's May. It's supposed to be unpredicable. Admittably we have a cold start as well, it's the coldest start of May here since... 2005.

Nah, we're gullible fools too busy listening to the MSM (Mainstream Media, Don't-cha-no), and being swept along by the megalomaniac enviro-interests, leftists etc. etc.
Please leave the political stuff out of this thread, geez.

Can't say I've ever experienced snow in May before, that's just weird. It wasn't a small amount of snow, either.

People like to worry and need an explanation to confirm their fears. Global Warmists seem to think there is nothing that can be done (or it is too late ) to affect anything. Who cares? I think the earth, as is all nature, is a cicular, regenative entity and will sort out the problems itself. Perhaps dinasaur poop is what killed them off.
