-At least year 253BC
-Two different generals must loose a large battle (including a loss to the general's bodyguard) against a faction that uses cataphracts (Pahlav, Armenia, Baktria).
Iv been so busy fighting off ptolemaio, parthia and troubles in the west that iv not even upgraded my barracks to the gain hellenic cataphracts. My question is what happends in the seleucid reforms? Im guessing they get better cataphracts?

AFAIK, you can't recruit any kind of Catass before that Reform. after the Reform happened, you can recruit Hellenic Catass, but the best things comes to you is Catass on foot (TAB), they pwn everything!

Catass on foot (TAB), what is this you mention?
Edit: is it another reform? in my next MIC upgrade i get hell catas so i must have already triggered the reform

No, it's the same reform, Lion. Though I dunnoe if both cataphracts and thorakitai agyraspidai are available on the same level MiC :/

He means Thorakitai Agematos Basilikou. An extremely heavily armoured elite infantry unit.

Thorakitai Agematos Basilikou.
Even their name has a terrifying effect :disappointed:

It only means "armoured royal contingent".
Personaly, I 've never come up against them but I assume that unless the A.I. includes several of those in the same army stack they will be dispatched with acceptable losses if ganged up and charged from behind after being tired by a good unit in "hold ground" defence mode.
Of course, if a human player uses them against the A.I. it is a whole different preposition, no more than two will ever be needed in the same army stack.

Oh the horror! :clown:
I remember fighting those guys in one of my MP battles: they were tough as a stone.
