Woah... :sweatdrop:

I've been having exam for the past two weeks and with only a couple of days left, the stress got to huge levels so I wanted to relax myself by playing one of my favourite games, MTW. And I decided to do the campaigns. I started English 100 Years and Saladin. Agincourt got soundly defeated, so will redo soon, so for last night at 1am I tried out Horns of Hattin.

I never managed to win it before, so last night I was really determined to win it. And plus I wanted to relax.

I forgot the idea of relax doesn't exist in MTW. In MTW you use your brains. After a lengthy battle of 35 minutes in which I had to deal with those super monsters called Royal Knights, I found myself sweating and super tired. I was so concentrated on the battle that I didn't even notice it turned around 1:40 am and I had to go to bed because 6 hours later I had an exam...

But still, that was some great entertainment. The most challenging battle I ever had, and by the time I used my infantry the enemy infantry was almost wiped out and only the Royal Knights posed any threat whatsoever. Those Mamluk Horse Archers wreaked havoc, and I had to use hit and run at least 20 times to take out most of the infantry and most of the Templar Knights who were the ones always following them. :knight:

Bottom line, I'm looking forward to Acre. But for those who want to use some tactics, skip the graphics, they're not that important, and think about the gameplay. Horns of Hattin is really one amazing battle.

MTW...
it's like fighting a METAL GEAR REX with an ant

True. But it's by far the most fun of them all.

When I lost my old computer, the historical campaign wins is probably something that I was really sorry for.
Horns of Hatin was, as far as I remember pretty hard. But Acre was really sick. I remember winning it with like 20 men left, and a general who fled the battle. It's one of those thing I doubt I'll ever achieve again.
Saladin's campaign is one of the hardest, but as far as I remember, Barbarossa's is quite impossible (the battle with a circle around wagons).

Acre I finished it from the first try, Saladin was incredible... I was only with 3 men left from his bodyguard but surprisingly those Peasants gave a good account of themselves until the Saracen Infantry charged into the Templar Ranks.

Barbarossa, only finished the first one. Will give a try to the whole campaign this weekend.

Yeah, Barbarossa is a must try! Please report what did you achieve, Barbarossa's campaign is the one I remember well, cuz it took me a lot of thinking to get to win 3/5 battles of it (as I said, I consider the fourth one impossible lol).

I can't get past Carcano, which is the second one, without having 60% of the knights remaining. It's just impossible to stave off all of the enemies...

I remember that the catch was to merge your two armies as soon as possible. I know I won it that way, and without the knowledge of how to charge the archers, which i learned just recently.
If I remember well, you had a good number of Royal Knights on one side and Archers on the other. Just try and make them into one army...
Oh man, you should see the rest of Barbarossa!

Yes the historical battles/campaigns are very good.

I always prefered Jaffa. The demo had it as the final mission, after the tutorials, and seeing that for the first time as a kid. Blew my mind. Yes I had played STW. But the sheer numbers of men, and the desert, and the destroyed castle. Wow. Safe to say I was soundly defeated. Then I re-tried and won.

I had to mod Jaffa to even stand a chance. :dizzy2:
But I remodded it again, gave only a slight increase in the numbers, and even so, it's damn hard.

Lol man modding sucks :D
I think Jaffa is already modded - your units have some enormous hidden bonuses...

Anyway, how do you play battles anyway? Did you reverse drivers?

Noup, didn't reverse anything... I have a nVidia GeForce Go 7900GS with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit, no problem whatsoever, no crash, nothing. Works perfect.

At least it did until now. I hope it stays that way.

The demo was fantastic. I wish I could bring back the joy of discovering the Total War series for the first time with that demo. Absolutely brilliant.
