What region do you love to defend, find easy to do so?

Myself, I love spain. So easy to defend once you unite the area. Three forts and your safe disregarding julii landing. I like to have my forts and an all cav army to deal with besky border raiders. Good fun overall.

I also like Italy. As well very easy to defend.

For me it is all about minimizing borders and tightening numbers of forces to free up more men. i usually only have one to three stacks by midgame.

I always felt a sense of safety and satisfaction when Italy was united. Early in the game, even though all the Roman factions are allies, I was uneasy about the coming of the eventual civil war. Great fun being the only Romans left!

I'm not sure about defending - I'm very agressive and expand quite rapidly, and always target the enemy that could pose the biggest threat first. Their stacks usually end up defending their own cities, rather than coming at my own. That being said, my favorite region is the Peloponnese peninsula. Attacks from the north can't just sneak by as the mountain ranges herd the armies towards the cities you hold anyway. It's the "top of the world' as far as the map is concerned, it has acess to all the relevant seas, It offers the best possible launch pad for assaults/defence of Italy/Asia Minor/Africa and a good route towards Mesopotamia and it's surrounding isles. Obviously the best trading is there as well, an the most advanced cities on the map at any stage of the game (sans Rome itself naturally).

Hail Centurion! I guess a couple different areas on the mapboard stand out in my mind. When playing the Greeks I like defending Pergamum. In the early game with the Greeks you're usually fighting a three front war and Pergamum starts out as the quiet front. But when the Pontids start coming at me, I can quick recruit Cretan archers and hoplite mercenaries and play a 'shield defense' kind of game while I'm building my faction up elsewhere. I enjoy putting scythed chariots to flight and mowing down those spearmen. Your faction general can acquire some serious experience and competence in these battles.

When playing Carthage, I like the challenge of defending Sardinia in the early game. Usually all I can throw over to Sardinia is a few Iberians, a couple Numidian jav-cav, some town watch and maybe some libyan mercenary javelin throwers. It's a pick up force thrown together because I'm sending my best troops to Sicily to prepare for the three-way competition with the Scipii and the Greeks. On Sardinia I'm often facing serious numbers of Julii Hastati, velites and equites who are trying to gain Caralis on the cheap. It's the challenge I enjoy in the defense there.

There are other areas too, but those are two that stand out in my mind.

Any desert region in Libya or Cyrenecia. Since my favorite factions are HA factions, and Armenia in particular, I like having the room to maneuver my all-cavalry armies in the relatively unobstructed desert. Running circles around the Scipii with HA's in the desert, before my cataphracts crush them into the sand, is one of the reasons I bother to play RTW:laugh4:

I would have to say my favorite region defending would have to be the Dacian/Scythian Territiories. The reason say this is that Campus Getae has mountains to the west for me to ambush incoming attacking armies, and a small amount of distance between other settlements so it is easy for me to bring necessary reinforcements : )

I'd have to say Italy. Spain is too rebellious for my liking.

Anatolia, especially Northern Anatolia aka Pontus

The title of this tread was misleading to me, and I was all ready to say how much I love Corinth due to the population bonus.

I find the easiest Region to defend is the British isles, however playing as the Britons you expand too quickly for that eventuality to eventuate. But my favourite area to defend is Greece due to the hecticness and unpredictability of where attacks are going to come from and how hotly contested the area is making it exciting, I also like defending the Thracian starting cities.

Yay, first post. I've been lurking for awhile and figured it was nigh time to put my two cents in.

I've got a Spanish immigration game going on right now, and so far I've taken Rhodes, Kydonia, and Salamis. While I recently took Salamis from Egypt and thusly started a war with the strongest faction in the game so far, I've yet to get redeemed of any three isles. Worst I've gotten was a blockade from a single Pontic ship, and my Spanish Armada quickly dealt with the matter.

Now, mainland places that are easy to defend... Sicily or Greece. Greece has expansion potential, and so long as you block the city north of Thermon, the Romans never invade you.

Balkans - Greeks are awesome, and you gotta love the mountains
Iberia - Very easy to block land armies through the pyrenees
Anatolia - It's fun.

Anatolia. Easy to defend, has some of my favorite factions, challenging terrain.

It's far easier for me to manipulate my HAs in the eastern Med, but no, anachro-Eggy and the Seleucids pretty much ruin the fun. >_<

Greece, whichever faction I happen to be playing. Gotta love all the tightly packed cities. As the Brutii in one game I was cranking out an entire legion (half stack) every two turns from the Peloponese. Poor Pontus never knew what hit 'em.

hmmm this is kind of a tough decision:sweatdrop:...probably my favorite region in the game is definitely Greece, lots of action in the beginning and after you've crushed whatever opposition there may be, it turns into the major cash cow for pretty much any empire. Also any land armies are forced to go through narrow choke points making it easy to defend. What more could you ask for? :)
