Good Day.
I am working on a mod that has the Swiss and Burgundians playable in early and am in the testing phase. Unfortunately, every time I cross into the High period the game crashes. I assume that this is because the Burgundians and Swiss become AI faction spawn possiblities at this time. Does anyone know of a workaround for this?

dunno what yer doin, but mine cross over in my mod just fine. most likely you've left some critical addition out in the early.txt.
you cant just turn the minor into major; you also have to edit the other lines in there to include the other stuff for the factions.

Hi there, i had a similar problem with my mod, so i eventually just had to scrap it and re-do the whole thing http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
Not good, but had no other choice unfortunately. Seems to work now. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Kraelin, I get that there is more to do than switch minor to major, especially since neither the Swiss nor Burgundians are even listed as minor factions. I have added leaders to thei home provinces, any agent needed and some buildings as well as the correct units. It crashes at the year 1205 eveytime I play. What did you change in the early.txt, maybe I missed something small that I am not noticing?
+DOC+ What did you change in the files? I am trying to learn how to mod more efficiently. Any help will be most appreciated...
I have turned the Danes into a minor faction for the high and late eras, and the Hungarians into a major faction for the high and late eras. All I did was change the Major and Minor settings for those two eras.
I have not played an early game since making the changes to see if a crash occurs. Is there anything else I need to change? I didn't think so from what I could tell from the texts. If a human is playing as the Danes in the early period, will the game crash in 1205?

Enabling 'minor' factions is no big deal. Ignore people that use "mystic" to scare you away from making changes. Editing the game is one of the most enjoyable 'customizable' feature of MTW. You can fix any change by either pre-backing up the .txt files or doing a reinstall.
The glorious achievements only work for the default major factions. This is hard coded in. Playing the conquest version works fine.
Adding the Swiss and Burgundians as minors to the Early campaign isn't difficult but a bit more work. Go to either the High or Late.txt file and do some simple cut and paste.
- Change faction from FN_Minor to FN_Major in early.txt
- Give the faction florins ($http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
- Give the faction control of provinces
- Place the leader in a province faction controls
- Add heirs by cut/paste from late or high
- Add buildings in provinces
- Add units in provinces
- I believe the offices are enabled in early text for all factions. If not cut/paste from late/high. (optional)
- Add one emissary in a province (optional)
- Add one princess in a province (optional)
Tada You are finished. The game only crashes if you leave something out.
