Anyone seen this situation before? A Sweboz army is besieging Patavium. I bring a relieving army up to break the siege and once the sweboz stack has been fought off, when the strat map comes back on Patavium has no banner and it is impossible to move any troops out of the city. I can still build/disband within the city though.

Any clues?

If you didn't come across a solution by yourself, reload and see if it is repeatable. If it is, use auto_win attacker to get your victory, so you don't have to fight at the battlemap.

Well things have moved on somewhat. If I fight the battle with the army within the city, after the victory screen and return to strat map the FM and the army have disappeared. At start of next turn however a ghost FM can be seen just to the North who then dissapears as soon as the cursor is placed over him. If you click accurately though he can move round the map as normal. How's that for a Special Forces stealth unit?

Not a game breaker so far as everything else seems to work and the only strange effect appears to be that if this FM gets too close to one of my cities then the banner and city info disappears from the map.

This is a known RTW bug, so I really can't help you out.
I would advise to get this FM and the ghost army on a one-ship fleet and send him pirate hunting until he is dead. Just to be sure he makes no problems in the future.
