Rome: Total War - Alexander fixed the dreaded, seemingly ages-old phalanx bug of Rome: Total War. How important is the phalanx bug problem to you? Would you :furious3: if it happened to you in the middle of a tournament battle? If so, click yes. If not, click no. Poll ends 29 June 2010.

EDIT: I am not a participating voter in this poll and am not advocating either side of the issue. I may have chatted with some of you and this may seem contrary to what may seem to you as my advocating of a side. But I assure you, I am merely presenting some statements and wish to gather the opinions of the player-base (and I appreciate your responses, I do).

What is the Phalanx bug? :S
I have not found a support page on the issue, but it is existent, I assure you. The bug is present in the Rome engine up until it was fixed in 1.9 (Alexander). When, for instance, you take a phalanx-mode unit that is phalanx-turned-on and attacking an enemy unit, and you remove it from guard mode, it will attempt to push at the enemy, while at the same time moving either sideways, backwards, or even sometimes turning 180 degrees and exposing the rear to the enemy. I kid you not. This does occur, all the time. You may have noticed it and not realized it. A quick guard-mode-on, halt, and re-attack set of orders should fix the problem. But this results in casualties, unnecessary casualties. The team working on Alexander was more or less obligated to fix this bug because...well, it is Alexander. The game depends heavily (to say the least) on the Macedonian phalanx working properly. Who, after all, desires a moon-walking phalanx?
