Hello, I've started my map making again and I don't know how to make the scrolling shot of the map. It doesnt seem to be a tga file like STW and I know the maps will work without this feature, it's just a nice touch. Anyone know the answer and what folder they are in?

yup, those are found in total war\battle\map image and they are .lbm's now, not .tga's. 716 x 120 pixels.

just take a screenshot, edit it to fit that pixel size and convert it .lbm, then name it the same name as your map and put it in the map image file. shld work.

for the screenshot take your monitor up to as a high a resolution as it will go (you will see more of the map)

and, perhaps, take 2 screenshots side by side and blend them together...

kyodai,

i havent actually done any these. i just looked at where they're saving the original preview images and said, ok, that's where they go and that's the file format they're using.

you might try putting the preview image in the savemap directory along with the map, but again, this is just a guess. also, i believe it's the .lbm files that paint shop pro seems to be screwing up, so you might have to use a different file converted. again, just a guess.

Thanks for the help guys but I think there may be too much involved. There are seperate folders for arid, lush, temperate, desert, winter.......Sod it the maps get posted as they are with no mapshot ( Stamford Bridge is the same I am told )

My excuse will be this....No mapshot equals custom map..a good way to know what you are hosting http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

Oh ok Krae I admit I'm just a wussie
