So, a light-hearted topic.
Must say I feel very proud. The TV-show, lost, watched it?
When it came to Sweden, it was described as "best TV-show EVAH" or something similar.
Watched first season, was enthralled by it! Couldnt wait for the mystery to be solved!
However, season two... I started to doubt. Felt like they were more into creating more mysteries than solving anything. About the middle of season 3, I seriosly thought the script writer must be on drugs (the bad ones, not the good ones). I did however hope he would prove to be the Einstein of TV-shows, I just did not trust it. The show felt a bit like hearing a senile elder tell a tale, forgetting what he talked about, and changing the story mid in the middle.
I just quit watching, and told myself I would buy the DVD box if there was any inclination from my less able minded friends that they made it work in the end.
Lo my joy when I find out that script writers had no clue what so ever. It was basicly a soap opera with the mysteries as a prop.
Happy day indeed!
Anyone know what I mean?
And as a side note, what about a producer who promises answers, and then comes up with ****. Could he not be sued for, like, wasting millions of peoples time?
"This is such a cool show, everything is going to be explained!"
Uh, so ok, we had no idea what so ever what we were doing, but we sure made people watch!
Humans are so gullible it's almost cute :laugh4:

From what I understand, it was nothing.
Think "Beverly Hills" with a load of mysteries that is totally irrelevant and does not get answered.

It was nothing? As in no explanation?
Or was the explanation that it was nothing? That's quite mind-boggling, sounds like Reenk Roink should get on the case...

Nothing as in no explanation :)
Sorry, I am just having so much fun about this... A show that toss out soooooooo many mysteries, having people (in the millions!) around the world pondering it, looking for an answer.. To be met with 90210 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY-IFU9LFkY)

Biggies.. major plot drivers that didn't get answered
What was the island?
What was smokey?
What was the light?
What was the red light?
Why can babies not be born on the island after 1974?
Why was Walt special?
How was the wheel mechanism discovered and how does it work?
How do the powers of immortality work?
What were the rules for Jacob / MIB?
What were the rules for Ben / Widmore?
Can the rules be broken?
Who was in the Cabin?
How did the ash work?
How did Eloise end up the jewellery seller to Desmond?
Charlie died to allow Claire escape by helicopter. What happened?
How did Jacob travel on and off the island?
Why were the numbers everywhere?
If Jacob knew 6 numbers were important, why have the rest?
What “worked” Juliet? Death?
How does David exist in purgatory if he never lived?
Why would Desmond intercept an empty coffin?
Nice to knows....
Who came before what we have seen?
What is the Egyptian connection?
What happened to the Dharma Initiative?
Who was shooting from the outrigger in season 5?
Who built the lamppost?
What was the link from Paik to Widmore to Driveshaft?
How are the food drops happening?
Can the others cure Juliet’s sisters cancer?
Did Richard really arrange to murder Juliet’s husband?
How was Rose cured?
Why could John Locke walk after the crash?
Why was Libby in the hospital?
Why were the numbers being transmitted?
Why were the Dharma using Jacobs numbers too?
Why did the losties keep crossing paths?
What was the point of the time travel?
What was the point of the flash sideways?
How was Jin allowed to kill himself?
Why was the island underwater in the purgatory?
If David was Jacks “peace” in purgatory, what was Sayids?
Sayid’s ideal is to lose Nadia and hook up with someone he dated for five minutes?
Where was Ecko and Anna?
Why did fake mom and Jacob need to use a “spell” but Jack didn’t?
Why would Desmond intercept an empty coffin?
And yes, I completely ripped this from a lost-heads forum.
I don't even know what half the stuff is, I just recognize that some VERY MAJOR plot lines were never answered. Have a look at what critics have to say.
Again, I am def no expert as I only watched till season 2,5 out of 6.
Reading the LOST forums in hilarious BTW. One day someone will come up with a way of transfusing the tears of blood from LOST-fans to critical patients in hospitals, and he will then earn enough to have Bill Gates as his maid and use Saudi Arabia as a putt putt golf course.
I was intrigued for the first season, but quickly got bored by the lack of anything actually happening and didn't watch past the first half of season 2. I just assumed the thing had quietly died, I had no idea that it was still going.

Have a look at the part "Nice to knows".
In specific - "How are the food drops happening?"
Maybe the writer made the food drops happen just because the actor in no way would lose weight. Thus lending more credibility to the story.
*snickers*
OH does someone long for the old Holywood days where everything is explained! Questions like 'what does a ski instructor do in the Netherlands we don't have mountains'. Maybe you mean something else and I can be sniped with a supersoaker any time. But I lost interest halway the second season and never looked back.
I'll help you out as best I can. From the sounds of it you missed litterally half the series. I'll add numbers to the quote and then try to answer them. But be warned some elements were dropped or deliberately not answered.
Biggies.. major plot drivers that didn't get answered
1.What was the island?

42.Sayid’s ideal is to lose Nadia and hook up with someone he dated for five minutes?
43.Where was Ecko and Anna?
44.Why did fake mom and Jacob need to use a “spell” but Jack didn’t?
45.Why would Desmond intercept an empty coffin?
1. Eden, or Atlantis, or both
2. The devil or Cain, but really he's one bad thing that can happen if you go into the light.
3. God (watch the finally, it's HEAVILY implied in the church and in the origin episode of Jacob and smokey)
4. Angry god, I don't really know what you mean
5. Jacob decreed it, and thus it was so
6. Dropped plot point, morphed into kids can't be born thus the others needs all the chillin's the can get
7. Smokie built it, and it taps into the islands power
8. The light can do many things
9. They couldn't kill each other
10. They had an agreement that there conflict was between each other not their loved ones
11. Not sure whicb rules you mean, Jacobs? Maybe.
12. No one, Ben was lying. But Smokey showed up to screw with Ben and Locke
13. Wasn't explained, but they needed some mcguffin so that Jacob could interact with people other than Hurley
14. Lol Wut? (that makes no sense)
15. Charlie drowned in the underwater research lab when the cyclops put a grenade on the porthole. But not before he made contact with Penny and told Desmond that the freighter wasn't hers.
16. He was the conduit for the light, he can lots of crap that ain't normal
17. Got me. Synchronicity I think
18. Again I got nothing
19. She was in Elysium, IE sideways 'verse. So it looked to her like it worked
20. Elysium was their idealized life. Jack wasn't as broken so he managed to have a normal-y life
21. In the sideways verse Desmond was like Anubis or St. Peter funneling souls where they needed to be
22. Again what?
23. The island was moved more than once, and at some point it was in the Atlantic. And Jacob or his crazy-mom brought them there. Meso-Americans too
24. Ben Linus killed them all with chemical weapons, then dumped their bodies in a mass grave
25. Don't know
26. Other people that Jacob had brought there
27. Not sure
28. What food drops? Ben was sending people to the mainland for supplies from time to time
29. Not unless they bring her to the island
30. Probably, but I never saw much of Juliet's back story
31. Being on the island to can cure what ails you
32. Same as above
33. She checked herself into the mental hospital cause she remembered
34. The island coordinates, I think
35. Not sure
36. In the afterlife? So they might remember
37. To show what can happen if you mess with the light
38. To show the afterlife without the audience knowing right away
39. He didn't. Smokey killed them
40. It had no place in Elysium
41. Seeing Nadia happy and safe, even if it wasn't with him
42. No Shannon, was his "soul mate." As Saywers was Juliet, and Jack's was Kate
43. Anna was in Elysium, she had a small cameo. Desmond told Hurley she wasn't ready yet.
44. Crazy-mom did it cause she was bat-crap crazy. Jacob did it to honour her. But really the drinking is what was really needed.
Yah, I hear they never explained the polar bear either. Two thoughts:
Why isn't this in the Frontroom? There's nothing political, religious or offensive about Lost.
Having never really watched Lost, I'd like to know if the final episode was more or less rage-inducing than the final episode of Battlestar Galactica.
So, a light-hearted topic.

I did that after the first 3 episodes.....After the series became such a hype, I gave it a try. I think I managed two episodes. It didn't work for me. I thought the characters were a bit annoying, but the mystery of it all kept it going for a brief while. Then fairly soon I decided that there really was little to it, not all that interesting or suspenseful.
But to each his own. I can somewhat understand the atrraction of the series, if it's your thing.
Yah, I hear they never explained the polar bear either. Two thoughts:

[Obi-Wan]Like many things in life it depends on your point of view.[/Obi-Wan] For me the finale of BSG was FAR from rage inducing. I though the ends of both shows were good ways to tie things up.
Everything becomes clear now....

Well, any review I have seen states that viewers who were into the show as a soap opera found the ending pleasing. While those of a scientific mind felt cheated.
I assume your needs are not the same as mine then :)
How did you know I spend all my time watching soap operas! Wow!
Those who thought it was all about mythology and strange ancient religions were dissapointed - those who realised it was a science fiction tv show were not.
The whole point was to not answer everything, it is like telling everyone how every magic trick ever, was done. You want some answers so you can educately guess the rest but still at the same time be mystified and compelled - and leave you with a long lasting impression, even when it is over.
It is a shame you don't get it.
