Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever heard of Sandra Nurmsalu? If so, what do you think of her music?

Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoV9IV0CgrI&playnext_from=TL&videos=8GeRIR8mzxQ) is a song that she does in English, and here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LduksUaMBs&playnext_from=TL&videos=OChCvXu9QXc) is the same song live.

This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOsmEO_osXQ) is her hit song in Estonian that made her popular, but she sings lots of other good songs in Estonian as well.
Now I just gotta convince her to tour in the US. :beam:

I like her Estonian song a lot more than the one in English. It's catchy, and you can easily hear why it's a hit.

She is great!
When I first time heard it from the radio I didn't realize that it's one of the Eurovision song contest participants. It was just too good to consider it one of the Eurovision songs. I think it was one of the best songs Estonia sent to Eurovision and because of that song I actually watched the show.

Quite surprised to see the name of Estonian singer as the name of the thread. Slowly we are starting to take over the world.

Yeah, me too. Her Eurovision entry is my favorite, but Päikese Poole (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID3AOcifzCs&feature) which she did later with Urban Symphony is really good too. I also love this old one I found. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtM_jG_llDU&playnext_from=TL&videos=scPCr2NhLTE)
I don't like any of her English songs other than the one I posted. It is not because she does not sing them well - the song selection just stinks. :P

Yeah, that song is what got me interested in Eurovision, because I saw it on the front page of Youtube when I was in Hungary. :P
I'll tell you what, if she is gonna be on your side, I will help you take over the world. ~;)

Well, how often does this happen? A foriegn translation of a song better than the original! (by far I would say)

I don't care for her look in the video, but the song is really pretty, and she sings it very well as usual.

That song is written by the late Urmas Alender. All of his songs are great.
Weird, it was one of the songs I listened earlier few times!

Yeah, I heard his version. No disrespect to him, but I really did not like his version that much. I think that the song is great though.

ahhh, but music, Megas, is something that transcends the Nation and race. It is an expression human feeling, which is native to all human beings. Honestly, I do not even care most times if I cannot understand the words (as with Ms. Nurmsalu), as long as I can feel the emotion being expressed.

Then cast aside your conceit and listen to this. You'll never understand it, but maybe, just maybe, you can feel the deep, raw emotion.

No, I don't immigrate. You can go move around all you want, but this is my sacred treaty land. My family's ancestral burial ground is only a half-hour drive away, where the shells of the great leaders of my nation, including the treaty-signer himself, lay. One day I will be put down in that same field, hopefully after having restored the family name to its past glory.

Again, someone like you wouldn't know anything about blood ties, loyalty, selflishness, tradition, and duty. Cultural differences, I suppose.

Megas, you don't gotta act like a victim. What makes you think that I am conceited? What makes you think that I could not understand it. No offense, but instead of harboring a victim complex and assuming the worst about people, maybe you could just learn to relax and not loath people who are not like you. To answer your question, no, I do not like the song. I have a hard time enjoying rap, as it is devoid of the melodies that for me express emotion. It is not the song in particular, but the format it is in. Imagine reading a thrilling novel written like a 1670 Bible. It would not be so thrilling anymore, would it? That is kind of like how I see rap.
What would make you think that other people would not know anything about blood ties, loyalty, selflessness, tradition, or duty? It is not a cultural thing, it is a thing of people. You will have people that do and that don't care about those things in the same society.
My thread was about a talented singer who I wanted to discuss, and you are bringing racists overtones to it now, and I fear that it may be closed. Please chill out.
