Just made a huge map based on fall of Constantinople, which thus has a rather big walled city in it, only to find when I fired it up that the enemy had been deployed all around (including inside the city), and I was stuck in the bloody gatehouse...any tips on how to either set deployment zones, or avoid things like that happening. Planning a siege of Valencia (from 'El Cid'http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif map next, and want to get this problem sorted out first...
Cheers,

Oh yeah, and does anyone know how to up the 16 unit limit for a player in custom battles, or for edited maps - even if you can't have more than 16 units on the map at any one time, there must be a way to get reinforcements as in a campaign battle. Just always felt that maps like this tend to get a little wasted when you are limited to a paltry 3,200 men...

Another reply to my own question...found the FAQ deployment bit, and was wondering how the Milan battle in the Barbarossa campaign works then (since Milan is represented by a huge wall running East-West at the far end of the map). Surely either a) defenders should start that battle off the map, or b) there was a way for CA to set where units start, which means it must be possible to reverse-engineer that in a mod...?
Anyway, wanted also to check with someone experienced about the Constantinople map: it has a costal area in both the SW and SE, and the city rises out of the sea in the middle, on impassable cliffs. The city wall runs solid on the north (with a two gathouses in a parallel, joined by walls) west and east sides, but there is no wall on the south side (it's the edge of the map). As I understand the FAQ, this makes it about the worst possible map I could have made deployment-wise, and the best chance I have of getting my men inside the walls of Constantinople is time travel. Anyone?
