View Full Version : Number of Bodyguards
Hey guys,
my factionleader in my romani campaign has 10 stars and 10 influence points. Since he is dull, he doesn't have a single management scroll, but I don't think this matters.
My question is why he only has 23 bodyguards with him, while any other familymember of me got around 70-100. I play on huge unit size and my leader has 3 silver shevrons.
Perhaps you could help me with it. I would like to know what factors lead to a specific bodyguard size and if it's possible to change it.
kind regards

I think personal safety also has influence an since your general seems to have fought many battles, maybe he has a lot of threads giving him minus points there
But on traits you can only change the chevrons of your bodyguards, not the amount of people or am I wrong now?
Personal safety could be. I'll check it on my general.
Checked. Evily -10 penalty to personal security. If this influence the amount of people in my bodyguard I understand my little numbers.
But I can hardly understand why this should effect his guard -.-
Since penalty comes half from the trait "Conquorer" (-5) which is not a reason for missing bodyguards :P

It often happens that a general who fought many battles has a very small escort... That happened to me quite often, i dunno why though

Personal Security is one of the most important factors of the amount of BG's Ascaron...
Traits like you mention or traits like Very Wealthy all decrease your bodyguards.
Paranoid for example gives a lot of extra bodyguards.

How are body guards replenished? Some of my general's guards seem to go to full strength after spending a few turns in a city, while others never seem to go back to full strength no matter what I do... =/

Maybe they do go back to full strength. You could never actually find out what full strength meant...
giving the faction heir trait around increase the number of BG...the FL and FH use to have more BG than the others FM's

It depends on certain family traits (such as King, Heir, or Friend) and the number of ancillaries (I'm not sure if non-military have effects, such as Clerk Merchant)... Experience has nothing to do with it and am not sure about the paranoid/personal security traits... but I AM sure of the two types listed above...

I may actually get rid of those traits or switch them. A successful general would attract more followers methinks. And not like assassins are that prevalent in EB anyways.
