At The Lordz Games Studio (http://www.thelordzgamesstudio.com) we are proud and happy to give you a first look into another great strategy game we are co-developing with the boys from Slitherine. BBC Battlefield Academy is a spectacular 3D turn based tactical strategy game set in WWII.

A turn-based strategy game like no other has landed on the Slitherine store.

Approachable, absorbing and visually impressive yet detailed, Battlefield Academy aims to revolutionise the strategy games market with a blend of intuitive design and compelling game play driven by cutting edge technical innovation.

Inspired by an original online game concept devised by the BBC, the game has more than 30 battles in a range of theatres of war from the North African desert through D-Day to the to the snowy Ardennes mountains where the Allies battled to repel the final German offensive.

The team at Slitherine worked with Professor John Buckley, Military Historian at the University of Wolverhampton and a keen wargamer himself, to make sure that the strategy, tactics, scenarios and available firepower of the battles fought in WW2 were turned into realistic AI behaviour, powering expertly crafted battles.

The game engine is also completely script-driven, allowing players to create their own missions and scenario in a simple and effective way.

The revolutionary server-based Play by E-Mail Slitherine system completes the package, for a gaming experience that will certainly please both hard core wargamers and newcomers.

I forgot to update this thread with the latest patch news for Battlefield Academy and we got in some great reviews and awards:

1.3.8
+ Fixed a bug when playing custom games in single or multiplayer

Should solve any issues with both new and ongoing games.

1.3.9
+ Added checking for custom multiplayer games

The game won't show any maps incorrectly placed in the install directory when creating new games. Games in progress will complete without problems.

Fixes
+ Fixed a bug when using local textures in custom and/or multiplayer games

New! 1.3.10
+ Additional cheat detection and prevention in multiplayer games
+ Tweaks to opportunity fire and the AI

Cheat Detection
Detects and reports when maps have been changed, and won't display games with mismatched maps.

Tweaks
Reworked some reaction logic to make behaviour when opportunity firing more logical and consistent. Also, AI now correctly suffers move penalties.

Fixes
+ reports registered username if email is already in use when registering ingame.
+ does not show enemy unit information during replay in MP games.
+ new tweak NOSHAKING turns off the shaking during artillery etc. Add the line NOSHAKING 1 to the user.txt file in the My Documents\My Games\BBCBA folder.
+ can do keyboard scrolling on the numpad (when Numlock is on) for left handed players.
+ The Y key allows you to toggle a mode where you can left click to define a portion of the map. If you then go into the new map dialog, it will have the selected area ready set up and will use that as the playable area of the map.
+ changed the way that the terrain file works - now needs to replace the existing one, rather than adding on (as it wasn't going to work for additional unit types etc as you had no way to set up the types in the 'old' file).
