I am checking out the export_descr file and I see units having flesh, metal, spear, javelin, pila, etc... while all of this is fine... where can I find out what is strong v. what, (i.e. what happens when a heavy cavalry engages with a light spear unit in melee... does the hvy cav lose some from attack, defense, both? and the other gains?...

You can only test it on the battlefield (IIRC), this is not like an AoE bulletin with all the units and their uses :grin::clown:

Most of these you will have to test on the battlefield. The only actual modifiers you can figure out beforehand are the apparent ones. The only apparent modifiers I know are attack modifiers, "mount_effect" being the indicator. I think those modify attack. I'm not sure, but those are the only + or - values I can find.

spear units in EB is determined by "light_spear" attribute in melee, giving +8 bonus attack against cavalry, and -4 defense against infantry, as well as extra pushing power (but still weak compared with "spear" attribute)

mount are the horses (or elephants and chariots) that the unit use, self explaining

"flesh", "leather", and "metal" are for sound when someone molest that unit with weapons

"javelin", "pila", "soliferum", arrow", is the type of missile used by the unit
