Legendary Swordsman Event

I started a new Shimazu campaign, and all is going well. I faught several battles with imagawa and kicked them off that island to the west and I am now building up to take ronin island, for I am not strong enough to go after Takeda which has pretty much done away with Mori. My question is why haven't I had the legendary swordsman event yet? Must have fought 5-6 battles, they were all fairly even with the exception of one. I realize one samurai must have 5 kills, but I thought that would have happened by now. Perhaps I am taking too many casualties? As shimazu I want those NDs ASAP! Has anyone else ever gone along time with out this event?

Sometimes it takes longer than it seems it should...especially if you are actively expanding and fighting. I've never kept track of the actual time before the LS event, but I do recall a campaign or two where it seemed to take an awfully loooong time to happen:laugh4:

That's what it seems like in my campaign! Though it is early and I have been relying on some ashigaru and my Daiymo unit to do alot of the fighting. What few YS units I have seem to take alot of casualties as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but ashigaru and Diaymo units cannot get the LS event, right?

A decent bridge defence battle using mainly YS should get you the legendary swordsman event quickly. The best way to achieve this is to get into Chikugo as soon as possible and carry out a successful bridge defence against Imagawa. Remember that archer kills don't count - hand to hand kills only. I've gotten the legendary swordmen event within the first two or three years using this method.

I think daimyo units can. Hit a unit of archers in the rear with your YS on the other side, then cut down the routers.

I do remember it always taking the longest as shimazu...

I found as I got better at the game it toook longer because I used my archers more and was less likely to charge in early battles.
