corupt saved file(s)

I cannot load saved game files beyond a certain year. They simply will not load. Instead EWT crashes, and I get the following error message:

[A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available]

I've gone back to older files, and tried to play past this point, but every saved file beyond that point continues to have the same crash issue.

I play clean vanilla ETW, via Steam

Any sugesstions...?

I don't know how true this is, but I recall people at the TWCenter saying that saved games with ETW 1.5 didn't work with 1.6. Perhaps it is an issue of older saved games and a newer patched version of ETW. Though the game was patched some time ago. I am not good technically speaking, so this is the only, perhaps poor, advice I can give. :)

Perhaps you use Alt+f4 when exiting your game...doing that will render your save file corrupt because the game wasn't able to write the save file completely...
