So as those of you who helped me out in the salvage thread might remember, I have got a new laptop. It has switchable graphics for power saving. When in power saving mode, I occasionally get a very noticeable and annoying screen flicker. This flicker disappears as soon at the power is connected (before it switches the GPU). Once it starts it usually doesn't go away.

Another (related) problem is that sometimes, when switching from power saving GPU to full performance GPU the screen brightness drops significantly, even if I set the screen to full brightness. This doesn't happen every time, but again, once it as happened once, it happens every time until I restart the computer.

Both of these things are very annoying. It's a brand new laptop and I don't want to send it away for the guarantee. Is there anything I can do to try to solve this problem myself?

Thanks for your help folks, you're all stars!

Stupid question but: have you already tried re-setting the refresh rate (Hz) settings when this problem occurs?

No I haven't, but I will next time. I really would like permanent solution however.

Obviously. No fun in keeping re-setting the thing properly. Trouble is: I've never actually done such graphics card switcheroo.

Disabling then reenabling the power savings options made the flicker vanish (and not come back yet). If it returns, I may just permanently disable those power saving options.
