I'm playing as Makedon and would I be losing anything longterm if I destroy the wonder in Athens?

You will lose whatever bonuses they have, permanently. Oh, and you wouldn't be able to read a nice description.

Only if you're the Goths.

How do those bonuses compare longterm to the 20000 coin it gives you for razing it?

Pretty much depends on your situation, I guess.

I never destroy wonders no matter how financially retarded my empire has become (unless i have no intention of holding the city and just took it to tare everything down or the wonder has no bonus for my peoples).

For me it is about maximizing the cities potential, you will never be able to construct that wonder again and that little experience bonus or happiness bonus may just save your ass one day

Dude, from the terrace of my apartment I can see right now the Acropolis. Why would you ever want to bring it down? Demosthenes was right about those Macedonian barbarians...

well i think it depends if you are roleplaying... I mean, if you are the romans and you take carthage after a long, bloody battle, the first thing you would want to do is TEAR that damn city DOWN!!!

Carthago delenda est!

I completely razed Carthage and Atiqa when playing as Pahlava. Even the ports. However I left the wonders in playce... guess I'm just too cheap to raze them...

har har har. Alexander was wrong in his magnanimity towards Athens. I say make an example of those over-proud, unruly Athenians and send them back to stone age. That'll teach them to rebel!

I usually like keeping wonders around from a roleplaying perspective (and to read about them), although of course if I'm playing a faction that might have torn down the wonders of other nations, I might do it.

Funnily enough, I live just down the road from them.

Well I destroyed it and got my mines built really early and now I'm swimming money. I sort of regret it :|

Of course you do. Your name will echo in the aeons to come as the destroyer of the finest example of greek art. The building which seems not to be made of pentelic marble but of living sunlight under the attic sky. A worthy offspring of Herostratos you are. What comes next? Will you raze the Pyramids to the ground to use the limestone to pave your backyard?:clown:

Sweboz, Sauromatae, and Koinon Hellenon comes in mind (the later would surely torn down every makedonian wonders, desecrating the aigai, and gave the bones to Spartans for use in swordfighting practice)

That's the spirit

Are they inciting you to rebel against your government?
