View Full Version : alternative way to activate script

Is there an alternative to clicking the 'show me how' button after loading? Like typing something in the shell?

This is why: I clicked the 'end season' button and became under attack somewhere. I fought the battle but then another battle came up so I saved my game.
Now if I load this saved game, first thing I have to do is fight this battle and there's no way to click on a town or activate the script any usual way... however, after this battle the 'season' is ended but in fact one turn is skipped due to the script not being activated which is rather stupid. I've had similar problems before and in some instances it jumps right to 14 AD for some odd reason so I had to restart from a much older save game.

So i'm hoping there is some way to activate the script through the shell or something that way I don't miss a turn and all that :-)

Not a tragedy if that's not possible but still quite unpleasant

I found this solution to my own problem:

I noticed that if I press F1 and click the "?" the show-me-how guy shows up and he says he's about to execute genericScript.txt. So I go to EB/data/scripts/showme, rename genericScript.txt tot genericScript.backup and create a copy of the other script and rename it to genericScript.txt

The I start RTW, load my saved game, press F1, click "?", click "show me how", do my battle, save my game, exit the game and undo the changes in that directory

Not the nicest way to do so, but it worked... I'm still curious about other ways to get there anyway :P

But don't you need the original generic script? I think it does things on its own part, independent of the EBBS.

Yeah, perfect_spy... Which you can easily integrate into the EBBS if you use it.

Welcome Hieronymus.

Do remeber that saving right before a battle (when on the battle screen) may cause CTD's.

I'm not sure what it is for, but I am sure that I didn't miss the perfect_spy thing.
I undid the changes made asap and everything still works fine.

I've had the game skip to 14 AD when I forgot to start the script as well, I just turned the script on and everything was fine the next turn.
