I guess this has been discussed before, but I couldn`t find the answer.
I would like to mod foot knights so they can be build as any other unit. I have entered the necessary buildings in the crusader-unit-prod-file but got a "unkown unit" message when starting. So what also do I have to change?

This is probably a formatting error, you've probably missed a tab somewhere.

Knights should have horses,
it's part of the thing that makes him a knight.
Making knights dismount seem
a more realistic option to me.
Why do people want knights without horses?

The problem you have is tab related.
try lord gnome's unit editor it may help.

Yeah, it was a tab-problem You might have guessed, I`m a mod-newbie. But did already some nice changes (Mamluk Handgunners should be usefull now). Thanx for the help
I modded the Foot Knights because otherwise I would never use them. A foot knight unit for the upkeep of a mounted one? In that case, I prefer them mounted. Actually, as far as I know it`s historical correct too.

upkeep is much lower
50 for feudal (these guys are pretty useless IMO )
40 for chiv and gothic (chiv foot from il de france are
very nice)
