It seems that Dallas wasn't enough for my overlords, and so SM finds himself travelling to Chicago.

Again, I ask for recommendations, advice, etc. I will be based in Elmhurst or Schaumburg, if that is helpful.

Cheers

ummm my great aunt just go robbed walking home to her house on the south side?

no seriously though the food in chicago is top tier. Id recommend trying to get in on some eastern european fare chicago has the best of its kind short of the home nations themselves. As well the music scene in chicago is top tier there are some fantastic clubs. Try to avoid the really touristy places and go to the more obscure places that dont cater to out of towners as much.

If you have taste buds, you owe it to yourself to eat here (http://www.yelp.com/biz/siam-noodle-and-rice-chicago). It's a hole -in-the-wall, but it's also the best Thai food available on this continent.

Elmhurst and/or Schaumberg, eh? So you won't be in Chicago per se, but rather the Greater Chicagoland Area. (Worth noting, as well, that Elmhurst and Schaumberg are in very different places.)

I can't give you many specifics but I'd recommend a trip down past the stadium and aquarium. It's been a while but the CSO is worth a go: http://cso.org/

I know :)

Customer office is in Schaumburg, so I was planning on settling somewhere in Elmhurst so I'm a reasonable driving distance away from both the city centre and work...

Speaking of which, if anyone knows of any decent long-term hotels in the Elmhurst/Lombard/Addison triangle, that'll be much appreciated. Google maps doesn't seem very helpful...

Thanks all for the replies!
