Dwarf Fortress

The game would be better if they simply redesigned the whole interface and put some resemblance of graphics.

It's not so bad if you watch a tutorial.

And if you want, there's like 80 or so fanmade tilesets. I prefer the ASCII, mainly because all of the dwarfs in the tilesets look like Maple Story characters...

My monitor is too small for most graphics sets... -.- I'm left with just tilesets with a max of 12p horizontal. Anyway, I wouldn't mind a succession game but I'm a terrible player (I still love the game though) and Toady's put up so many updates since the last major version it's really difficult to keep up. Gah!! :dizzy2:

I think you only need to download the newest version

There's a lot of new players in this game, so you'd be fine. Also, I recently posted the first update. (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?p=7818503#post7818503) Even if you don't want to play, it's worth a read (coming from the guy who wrote it, but I'm not that self-centered)

I recently started playing this game, in a hole between Civ 5's release and wanning interest in starcraft. I was going to create a dedeicated conversation thread but as there are more general comments here I didn't think it worth it.

I'm still very much finding my feet, maybe a third of the way up the learning curve (I hope that's realistic). That said, I'm currently being challenged by the breadth of industry and supplies for it. E.g. I find it easy enough to set up metal working with all the ore left lying around from excavations, but am not sure how to develop leather and cloth production -especialy how I should gather the right raw materials.

Anyone else playing this beatifull sick joke of a micro-mananger's game?

40d > DF2010
That's all I need to say.

Ok, my middling->weak googlefu reveals that 40d has something to do with dwarf fortress, but otherwise I haven't a clue what you mean.
