View Full Version : Installing EB- already followed installation guide :( please help
I've followed the installation guide for EB and i even looked at the screenshots. Sure there was some difference but i just assumed they were similar.
This is what i've done.
I've uninstalled RTW and re-installed it.
i copied RTW and made a new folder and pasted everything there, so therefore i've got 2 folders now- one that is the original rome total war, and a rome total war backup
Then i installed EB and i thought i should put this
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe
now it doesn't work :(
ive installed EB 3 times and 3 times its come up with this when i click the icon
searching for rometw.exe, click browse to find.
and now i've done somethingw hen i went to properties and it opens the folder to where everything is :'(
help help :'(
Moving this to the Bug & Technical help forum.

ok but theres a doubt i have you said that you make an other folder but when i install i did it on the same folder why you dont just install rtw vanilla and then the patches after that open the eb 1.1 exe ant install it on the original folder

Don't install EB under Program Files if you are using Vista/Win7, better is C:\Games
Then you copy your RTW folder inside that.
Install EB 1.1 into that folder
Same goes for Eb 1.2 (not into the mod folder, just into RTW!)
Get the fixes: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=109936
Start it using either the Trivial Script or the shortcut (for problems with the shortcut, see:https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=103681)
Have fun!

Thanks for replying.
i've decided to install it one more time.
this is what i'm currently doing.
i'm downloading from here:
http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/gamespace/download_alt.php?pid=589390&sid=6181194&id=6181194
i should also tell you that i haven't uninstalled rome total war, rome total war barbarian invasion and rome total war alexander yet
once i've finished downloading i still have a rome total war folder and a rome total war BACKUP folder.
which folder should i put EB into?
and then what do i do?
(i'm afraid you're going to have to tell me step by step on how to install it :( )

Get the files from our homepage (https://www.europabarbarorum.com/), the source you mentioned delivers an outdated installer.
Steps:
1. Just copy a clean RTW folder (meaning no personal changes or left-overs from your earlier attempts) to a backup folder, move or copy the original folder to C:\Games or another location outside Program Files.
2. Start the EB 1.1 installer and select your newly copied RTW folder as destination (in the installation progress you can select if you want to have additional things (Documentation, Recruitment Viewer and Trivial Script), you select all of them, they can be installed under Program Files without problems)
3. Start the EB 1.2 installer and select your newly copied RTW folder as destination
4. Download all fixes from here: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=109936 and apply them as mentioned in the thread
5. Read the FAQ: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854
6. Use 'EB-Singleplayer' found in the main RTW folder to start EB and enjoy!
If you have questions or anything is unclear, feel free to ask, but remember, I only can help you if you describe at which step problems occur...

i have one teeny tiny problem...
i dont have C:/games
i use windows vista if it helps and i use an acer computer.
and i would also like to know- do i move the creative assembly folder of rtw or just the rome total war folder with only the uninstall in there?
right i'm on the browsing bit of the installer now
I have a few questions some that was from before
i'll just retype it here so you can read it all from one post:
1- I moved The Creative Assembly Folder away from program files and just put it under Acer:C\
i have also done the same thing to Rome Total War Folder (which only has uninstall in it)
2- i have copied the Rome Total War Folder (which has data, Miles, gamespy etc) into a Rome Total War Backup Folder but that is still in the Program Files x86.
3- i've got the installer up and running and i've clicked browse but i'm not sure which folder to choose.
thanks for helping me by the way :) :help::help::help::help:

Whoa, wait. Did you choose the RomeTW.exe as your install path? Is it even possible to do that? The correct path should be C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War and not C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe
1- I moved The Creative Assembly Folder away from program files and just put it under Acer:C\
i have also done the same thing to Rome Total War Folder (which only has uninstall in it)
The whatwhat? Isn't the Rome Total War folder inside the The Creative Assembly folder?
2- i have copied the Rome Total War Folder (which has data, Miles, gamespy etc) into a Rome Total War Backup Folder but that is still in the Program Files x86.
Do you have two Rome Total War folders? One with only uninstall and one with data, miles, gamespy etc? Why on earth is that? How did you get the folder with only "Uninstall" in it?
Good News :)
everything is working :)
all i have to do is do the last bit to fix the bugs and thats it :) thank you all :D
