I´d like know if it´s possible this. I´ve changed the province names in the "Details of the Province" Screen modding the file names.txt, but i don´t find where i can mod them in the campaign map screen. Any idea?. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

The campaign map is a tga image in the textures\campmap folder. To change the names that appear you have to actually edit this image.

Patrician could use a new campaign map.. Thats fer shure. Initialy I had began to work on that but I dint have time. Editing the campaign maps is a sinch. Most Graphics programs allow you to Edit Text unto images. Its simply a matter of cuting and pasting blank parts of the map over the names and then writing text names over that. I used IRFANVIEW wich is exelent for doing that. Irfanview also allows you to write text over images in TGA form and it worked fine. You have to edit both maptex images tho and that takes allot of time.

A sinch http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

If that's the case why hav'nt we ever seen a new campaign map for MTW?

Beg to differ KD but it's far form a 'sinch', as anyone who has attempted it will tell you.

You have absolutely no idea of the problems involved - until you try to do it. That's why we hav'nt seen any up to now

Welly,
I think KD is just talking about
replacing the text on the map.
Not the map itself.

We use photo shop and it works fine.

All you need is 26 letters and
you can spell what you like in English http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The settings can be a problem
more then the program if you
can't get it to work in photoshop for example.

If the layers are locked for starters then
your not going anywhere.

I use photoshop for everything except .lbm
and the only problem I have is
being an amature http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Aaaahhhhh,

KD just means changing the names actually written on the MTW map.

I'm an idiot http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif too many late nights ...

Still I suppose even thats a bit tricky if you want it all to 'blend in' nicely.

Maybe, Instead of changing every province name, It would be possible to just name the important provinces to the mod such as in patrician changing tunisia to Carthage and the ones that are not important to the mod just pasting over blank spaces that match that region to the map. That way you dont have to change every name in the map making it less time consuming this would also give the map a more ancient wild untamed look..I think you can even cut and paste nice little TGA sections to the map such as the City of Rome over rome.. TGA format is allot more forgiving than BIF and BUF files..[/B]These are just creative ideas of course. In the camelot map I pasted a dragon over the ocean just off Ireland.. And it worked just fine..
