How do you get a new cognomen for a romanii general, and how many are there?

Well you get the new cognomens by defeating enemies and conquering their cities... I dunno how many are there, but Dacicus, Africanus, Germanicus, Asiaticus are definetly in, since i got them :D

i've gotten them before, but for some reason i haven't gotten any, one guy conquered macedonia pretty much on his own, but never got a cognomen. but lately my strategy has been to have 4 full stacks stomping one faction at a time, and that probably spits the victories up.

They need to be called imperator by their troops and been granted a triumph by the senate.

Small armies and heroic victories do help.

just about every dedicated general i field has gotten imperator and a triumph, and returned to claim it...

And Vanquisher of a people too.
And not all people have a cognomen.
