Thelordz Roman mod is still in testing mode, graphic vise
we got one unit fully done. LKrazy is working on RomanCav.
Guys it took as months to do this so be litle patient.
I was bussy making icons for 60 units and LKrazy making units and answering to your questions. Roman mod rests between all of this.Few more days maybe weeks. Then they are Hanibal elephants which i cant waite to get my hands on.
I got to go back to work. TheLordz

If anyone can help with some elephant images?
It is to be, an elephant with diferent angles, size of image is not important, best are GIF,JPG or BMP formats.
Thanks LBA

LBA,
I sent LK a few Elephant images some months ago (extracted from AoE). Never headr anything more so I presumed it was a no-no.
A few points
- 2 different Elephant images in A0E (one with Howdah, one without)
- they are a bit too small to use in conjuction with existing hi-res MTW units but could probably be expaned for the basic outline (a bit of detail touching up would then be required)
- AoE uses 8 camera angles but not quite the same angles as MTW. They would look a bit like Shogun units on an MTW battlefiels.
- There are several actions available for these elephants. The basic 4 actions for mounts (stand/walk/run/charge) are available.
- each AoE action (for each of these 2 Elephant types) comprises a variable number of frames (between 7 and 15). You'd have to pick/select which frames to duplicate or omit for the 12 frames required for MTW BIFs.
There was a longish dicussion on Elephants in LK's "Request to community" thread. Personally I think representing Elephants in MTW poses problems - not so much from an imaging viewpoint but more in terms of the MTW battlefield engine.
Still, if you want more details let me know.

Wellington thanks for your interest in elephants And yes please any images will help, including your skills. About 6 month ago I replaced 2 camel images on frame one and added elephants as standing ones. Run the game and my elephants where nicely displayed in game, captured in pause. This was Lordz only try.I cant say it will not work till I test it all trought 12 frames but i do consider your point about engine limitations.I been so bussy, and i havent read TheOrg
posts for months be in touch.LBA

LBA,
Just looked at the ZIPs I sent LK - I was wrong - I never sent him the AoE Elephants (I sent him some AoE chariots - and other AoE figures). I'll extract the Elephant images from AoE and send them to you in a ZIPped format. Are you ok with my sending them to your E-mail address? If you think these images may be suitable for your purposes I can also send you the Chariot images (3 different types from what I remember).
I'll only send you the basic images (AoE uses 'Direct Draw' which means there are 'negative' images as well - presumably you won't need these for MTW) as opposed to all the images AoE requires for imaging these Elephants. If you decide to use them but have palette problems let me know - there are a couple of 'tricks' that may be convenient for direct draw images
Personally I'd love to see Elephants and Chariots in the mod your doing, and whilst some problems (re the MTW engine) are circumventable, other problems appear (at present and only IMHO) to be almost insurmountable.
BTW - if you have a copy of AoE it's pretty straightforward to extract these images if you have the right utilities. I gave LK some details re- what/where/how and I'll include this E-mail in the send (for future reference).
Let me know if your happy for me to E-mail you directly.

Welly

Roman map is nearly ready with Roman provinces in MAP TEX2. I dont know how long it will take to rename all countries in MTW folders or is it posible yet. I did run map in game and it displayed nicly. My home country is finaly caled ILIRICUM how it was for hundred years. Croatia name only exist since last century so we are close to more historical acruatcy. Sorry for English writing I newer thought I will be stacked IN Britan for that long

Dear Nagatsuka I am responsible mostly and only for graphich art work on MTW mods. Adding Province names on map is simple proces but like I mention early Changing names in folders is diferent story.Surly LK or Wellington can work that out quite quickly.Another easy option is to keep original names on map with new Roman ones, for easyer cordination but that is open to yours opinion.LBA

I've yet to see a new campaign map (with different provinces/areas) that works with the MTW Engine. A few people have been working on this (Giskard, Barocca and others) and there has been a lot of progress ... but to my knowledge no one has yet cracked this 100%
Note there is a vast difference between producing a new campaign map via some graphic editing program, and being able to incorporate this map within MTW (with all of the additional considerations).
If anyone has cracked this please let me know - and point me to the appropiate download.

LBA,
Why does someone who resides in the "Elephant Free State" want Elephants?
Hhmm ... anyway, I sent you the images in 4 E-mails, around 500k each, but one of them keeps coming back to me (Mail SYstem Error - Returned Mail).
"Reason: Requested action not taken: exceeded storage allocation"
Does your ISP restrict your storage allocation? Maybe you have to get the ones I sent before I can send any more?

Confusion reigns
Am I talking to LBA or LK now? I presume it's LK ... so ...
Did LBA get the images I sent him? There were 4 E-mails containing Elephant images from AoE - each was around 500K. I "think" he must have received the 1, 3 and 4 E-mails. I'm still not sure about 2 one. I split the 2 one and sent it in two E-mails (each around 300K). Have you these now?
LK, (if I'm talking to LK now!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I can do a bit more with these images in terms of placing them in several BMPs that align the various images over several frames correctly. Unlike MTW, AoE has different size rectangles across frames. I can correct this to provide equal sized rectangles for all images in a sequence (you know what I mean). This will make things a lot easier in terms of alignment. Otherwise it's a pisser trial and error job. Let me know and I'll do this for you - it WILL take a week or more however.
Also, do you want chariots? AoE provides 2 chariot images - a spearman and an archer.
Let me know.

however with the release of TW3 been romoured
for the final quater of 2003, it would be foolish

Lord Krazy - "however with the release of TW3 been romoured

It's probably better to wait and see what Rome:TW covers before you lose heart completely. If the European sites are correct and TW3 is fully 3D then modding may be driven back to tinkering at the edges and the freedom that is available with MTW could be an asset.
"ECW and Napoleonic units will mostlikely be our

I think you guys should finish what you started and don't loose heart. Anything could happen between now and Game release. I could use some help on my Patrician project since its already out and folks are actualy playing it. including me. My Barbarians could use some units and I could use some help with the unitprod11 file. I would like to make the Roman units exclusive for the Romans and Barbarian units exclusive to barbarians except the ubii cav i just created for the update. B: it would take as long nearly, to complete.

Path to the Dark Ages is pretty much dead now for the following reasons :-
-I'm not going to compete with CA when it's clear they'll win by miles.
-It will take a long time to get it to the level I want it to be for release, by then RTW will be a few monthes or weeks away.
-Without LK making units I'd fall VERY short of the goal.
That's about all I can think of why there's not much point continuing with the MOD, rest assured I'll look into doing something else non-roman related so that I can relax through the process without having to worry about RTW coming out soon dimming interest in the MOD.

if anyone here hasnt seen it it is a MUST. the story isnt true, but it helps the lay student understand the julio-claudian line perfectly - and that line can be very confusing

Hi Guys,
Just to confirm I shall be doing the final positioning for The Lords (LK/LBA/myself/others) New Roman Units. I was hoping to start work on these some days ago but I'm quite involved with the LMM project at present and want to ensure our group has some 'half working utility' that can be tested whilst I take a reast for coding.
To LK and LBA - my apologies it's taking so long for me to start on these. Anyway this is what I'm anticipating doing with the New Roman Units -
Era's
=====
Provide Roman Units for two distinct era's -
a) Camillan/Polybian era (circa 200BC - Hannibal!http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
b) Republican era (circa 50BC to 100AD - Julius Ceaser)
The plates I have been passed by LK/LBA are excellent for providing various units based upon these 2 era's. The units possess helmets, breastplates and greaves which is great because I am anticipating producing 3 distinct plates (BIF's) from this one plate. This is also necessary as whilst the plates have a variety of actions associated with the images there is not a great deal of room for shields/weapons. Does'nt matter - the users can install whatever plates/units they wish on a mix and match basis.
Anticipated units are -
Camillan/Polybian Romans
------------------------
Triarii - Veteran Heavy infantry shield/sword/long spear
Principes - Heavy infantry shield/sword/pilum
Hastatii - Medium infantry shield/sword/pilum
Velites - light infantry round shield/sword/javelins
Possibly also a couple of Italian "Roman Allies" based on the Velites. For details/pictures of these types check the link -
http://www.homeaddy.fsbusiness.co.uk/polybian.htm
Republigan Romans
-----------------
Not fully decided on these yet. Different shields of course and no long spears. Maybe 2/3 different types based on similar shields designs together with allies (lot's more potential for Roman allied city states).
Conclusion
----------
How long before I start this. Hard to say. Maybe another week now but I'll update LK when I start and also after each each plate (2/3 plates maybe?) is finished.
Don't blame LK/LBA - they are waiting on me now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

A quick update,
I've started on The Lords Roman units now so expect the first units in a week or so.
Quick question - is anyone really (and I mean REALLY) interested in a full set of Roman units for MTW, or have people lost some interest in this ROman stuff and are now just waiting for RTW to arrive ?
(BTW: By a 'full set' this would mean replacing several of the BIFs - hence losing some MTW units if you wished to install such a set).

Quote[/b] (Wellington @ Feb. 15 2003,14:55)]A quick update,
I've started on The Lords Roman units now so expect the first units in a week or so.
