Hi everybody.
I would just like to address recent setbacks regarding the multiplayer scene of Europa Barbarorum as several people have contacted me bewildered and surprised at the apparent lack of players with which to play. Before I do, though, I would like to make clear one thing. I am not part of the team that creates this modification. I simply manage and support a system that allows for players to come together for multiplayer battles. That's all.
Early this month, from about August 5th to 14th, the EB Online website (http://www.ebonline.tk) experienced down-time. Little did I know that our webhost had actually shut down. This was truly bad timing and completely unexpected as we had only launched in June. The website's "Getting Started (Instructions)" page is by far the most popular page on the whole site, second only to the home page. It is where players find information on how to connect to the networks and contains critical network ID information. Because of the downtime, few if any players had this information. This led to a complete drain of the playerbase. In the meantime, forum moderators had finalised an earlier request to move EB Multiplayer-related threads to the Rome: Total War multiplayer section on the Guild. This section, found here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?313-EB-MP), seems to have been missed, unnoticed by many. Let me say that it is also the last link on the header section of the EB sub-forum on the Guild. It wasn't until the morning of the 14th (Pacific Standard Time) that I was able to repair the website.
It is because of these setbacks that there has been a large drain of players online. Remember that this is not to mention that those same players may as well have certain obligations that simply cause certain months, such as the current one (August), to be less convenient a time to play than, say, last month (July). All of these factors combined explain the drain. I hope you all understand.
Note to the mods: Please don't move this to the MP section as it is meant for the audience that reads the EB main sub-forum on the Guild. Thank you.
