Tribesman
Redleg
Red Harvest
Goofball
Don Corloene
Gawain
DD
Pindar
Adrian
Meatball
Fizzil
Koga
English Assasian
Good things come to those who waite! ;)
Don has posted recently in the Backroom, and I think I saw new Goofball and DevDave posts in the Dojo II. But I know what you mean, the Backroom is a lot quieter without that core. Hopefully Shogun 2 delivers, and brings many of them back.
Adrian drops by from time to time but he won't become active anymore

I actually got a PM from econ21 a month or two ago. Granted, it was because Nigerians had broken into my email account and sent out a mass "I've been mugged overseas and need $1000, please send it ASAP" to everyone in my contacts list and he was just checking to make sure it was a scam, but it's nice to know he *is* still around, or at the very least popping in from time to time. IIRC I've seen rotorgun around every so often too. Definitely miss a lot of the others though.

Agreed.
Rotorgun does pop in now and again, but we send him and his unit to places hot and dusty from time to time so.....

Drinking & chasing skirts, at least you weren't wasting your time.
Drisos
He's usually a regular in the Sword Dojo, but hasn't been on since May, in fact a few of the Sword Dojo regulars seem sadly absent - leaving the place feeling a little bare.
I would certainly raise a cup of sake to their health if I had one.

I've realized that after M2TW and even worse, Empire Total War the number of new potential members has decreased since the quality of the series has massively declined. No matter what a lot of those listed were going to leave the forums as they grew up and became more involved in their own lives especially after college and entering the workforce and raising a family.
We wouldn't be morning those who had left if we had a full replenishment of new people to participate and keep each other entertained. It's easier to forget your old friends when you have new friends to take their place easily.
We all know this (or are thinking it) but it needs to be said in public: the forum community and the total war community at large is in danger of shrinking to a fatal size if this next title fails and fails hard. Not only is the interest of the old members hinging on the strength of this Shogun sequel (remake I guess some would call) but if Shogun turns out to be another slow, unmodifiable behemoth that Empire is, new members wont bother investing their time here.
I predict that if Shogun 2 succeeds we will be fine for at least a year with long term benefits depending on how modding is implemented. If Shogun fails like Empire has, then I'm predicting our forum will experience a slow but noticeable anti-Eternal September (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_september) that might eventually just leave maybe a few dozen on here and TWC with significantly less then now.
I could just be a pessimist when it comes to this though for all I know. I do miss FactionHeir though, he helped me begin modding M2TW when I first started browsing this forum and I don't recall thanking him.

Too long to quote
Well, saddly, TWCenter still has a crapload of active members, while this forum seems to become emptier every new month. There's no way I'd go onto TWCenter for something else than mods, but it has to be said too.

I miss Tribesman most of all. He was like a counter-balance to Fragony. I will never see his many smilies again. :shame:
As for the future of the .org, I fear it is bleak, or at least does not lie in the TW series. We've reached a point where our numbers are currently low enough that the new titles won't attract many people here anyway, since they'll go for the activity over at TWC. Now all we can do is sit and wallow in our bitterness in the Backroom, reminiscing over the glory days...

If the backroom isnt the hellstorm it was when I left, I may cosider going back, just to see how things are...

Still feel kindy bad about that, I made a mistake I couldn't correct, I tried but he wouldn't have any of it. Hope he is ok anyway

This is the constant loss that is life... maybe this could be used constructively and we all could learn to appreciate those that we have here now... otherwise there could be a thread in a few years time featuring some of your current friends...
At least we had the chance to appreciate thier wit, intelligence and kindness. We are far better off pining for old friends than those staring at a list of random names...

Aside from already mentioned there was AntiochusIII and Byzantine Mercenary who were brilliant in the Backroom. Gorebag was always great in chat. AND OF COURSE SHAMBLES! I also don't see Papewaio and TheStranger much anymore.

It is sad when you sit back and realise all those we've left behind.
TS is still around though. He doesn't post too often, but I see him logging into MSN fairly often.
Simply the fact that there is such a large list makes me again realise what a special place the org is.
Another to add to those:

Personally I think that areas such as the Backroom have almost no link to the game whatsoever - I've not played any of the games in well over a year as RL impacts more and more.
I value the backroom as a discussion forum though, and wonder if there is a way of trying to get a more generalist interest in this specific area.
~:smoking:
I returned here shortly, and it seems I left in a great string of loss. It is a shame to see that so many good people have left us. I would add in a moment of silence, but we need all the conversation we can muster.

That. And there is plenty of fresh blood, org keeps attracting interesting people. Do really miss AdrianII's precision-bombardments though, the clever bastard peels arguments like an onion.
BKS, Beirut and Dutch_guy.
Legends.
Help me here...
If I understood it correctly, the backroom is where you discuss politics and stuff? It's a pet hobby of mine...
However, I seem not to have access to that part of the forum, eventhough my new cool "member" status... Can only senior members access it, or what? If so, I guess there is no big question as to why it seems a bit dead, and that few/no new members show up there.

You just need to send an email to the admin, TosaInu, and he will give you access.
Thank you Rhyfelwyr!

Actually, you go into your profile and click "join groups" or permissions or something, then you apply to the Backroom.

The Backroom has turned me into a bitter, cynical, old man.
It's still probably more informative than any newspaper or news website though.
It's still probably more informative than any newspaper or news website though.
I agree with that, especially when it comes to covering issues where the papers purposefully have a bias. Though on some issues, that bias is a good thing.
Would be amusing if the Org did a newspaper though as a possible one-off and have different members contributing different things. Though it would require some one with some layout experience.
I still have not figured out this backroom thing, this is getting intriguing...
TosaInu asked me to sign up at: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profil...editusergroups
I did so, two days ago or so, but since then nothing has happened.
Is the group really inactive, or am I doing something wrong here?
I must say, I did not realise that it was a private group, given it is linked in the forum in just the same way as this frontroom. The plot thickens, I guess... Now I really start to wonder what evil schemes is lurking in the very hard to reach backroom...

It takes sometime for Tosa to respond for the sign-up request, I think. He's a busy commie, I'm afraid. But I love him, you see?
It keeps him busy, yes it does.
Hello Shibumi,
Go to your Settings and request to join the Backroom group: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editusergroups
The Backroom staff manages the Backroom membership.
I doubt TosaInu is involved in the process, from the looks of it :)

Its the backroom mods.
Send an angry PM to CountArach (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/private.php?do=newpm&u=18021) and just ask if there was a problem in approving your application to the Backroom.
He's a nice guy, he'll help you out (plus he is a moderator for the backroom)
And if he doesnt? I'll bug him on MSN for you.

I believe either admin (Tosa, Ser Clegane) usually approve applicants. Which can take a while as they are often busy.
But he is never on MSN... wait...

True, he isn't much anymore. But pever has many ways...
I asked for permission into the backroom sometime ago. I never got a confirmation that I was allowed in. After a few days, I just tried to enter and I could.
Why do new users have to apply for access to the Backroom? It doesn't sound too healthy for the forum in my ears.

Its more that its an opt in. Some people don't want to.
AFAIK theres no application process, its just not visible by default.
Its more that its an opt in. Some people don't want to.
Then they can simply not visit it.
I think it is to hide it from guests, CIA agents or other random visitors, due to heated discussions.

I gather that, but I think it would be more beneficial to the site if it you rather had to opt out. The Backroom is already "hidden" at the bottom of the site anyway.

He checks in every so often, I'm sure of it. He's a student, quite a distance from home. During the holidays, I believe he goes home and comes back.
Warman: He was part of the entrance hall welcoming comittee. He's missed.
