Terribly confused as to what to install and how to go about it

Hey there everyone...

Well, after having not played EB for the longest time, I'm finally going to reinstall it and play it again, but it's been so long that I find myself stuck with all the same problems I had when installing it the first time...

At present, I have a clean 1.5 installation of RTW in a folder on my Desktop (bypassing the "programme files" death-trap), but I want to play EB with Alexander.exe and I really don't know where to go from here...

There are some old guides regarding how to fully install EB and how to get it working with Alex.exe, but they all refer to these mysterious "EB fixes" that I don't recall anything about and the guides themselves are obtuse, confusing and all but useless to a layperson like me... Not to mention that they may no longer be fully up to date...

So I ask, how do I fully install EB with Alex.exe and what exactly do I have to install (if anything) beyond RTW: Alexander, EB 1.1 and the EB 1.2 patch and how do I ensure that EB is running Alex.exe properly (I seem to recall something about an improper set-up resulting in immortal generals)?

If so, I download and install the "Missing sprites", the "Missing general recruitment" and the "Script fixes" files, correct?

If so, I should be downloading and installing only the file that is listed just below where the OP says, "USE THEM ONLY TO PLAY VANILLA EB WITH ALX.exe" (as the others actually modify the game, and I just want to play regular EB with Alex.exe), correct?

So, then, install the things in this order, correct?

Alexander expansion
EB 1.1
EB 1.2
"Missing sprites" fix
1.2 minimod pack 3.1

Is that right?

Edit: Well, that's just fucking brilliant, isn't it? I decided to follow Mediolanicus' instructions, and now I get this message upon attempting to start EB...

I'm sorry, but what in the unholy Hells is that supposed to mean!?

Edit 2: Well, after uninstalling and reinstalling all my stuff and trying to follow siegfriedfr's instructions instead, I've discovered that I can't because when I try to download the relevant .exe file from filefront, it won't save onto my computer as a .exe, rendering the file useless...
