Heya everyone, I'm playing a Casse campaign at the moment, and IIRC, while the Casse can recruit Brihentin from highest-level MICs, they can't actually build the MICs themselves, meaning they'd have to capture them from the Gauls, and that only after the Time of Soldiers reform.

Is it possible to modify the data files so that Casse can get access to Brihentin through their own MICs, whether subject to reforms or not? From past campaigns I've learned that waiting for the Gauls to build top-level MICs in Gaul for me to capture as any faction at all either never happens because of my pace of conquest, or takes incredibly long, so as much as I'd like to wait till they get them up, it'd mean I can't land in Gaul for nearly a century.

To do that you'd need to edit the building code for the relevant MIC. There will be a level that is accessible only to gauls and scythia (I think, whatever the internal name for Arverni is), and you will need to add the internal name for the Casse there (britons).

Thanks Tellos! Looks like I don't need to do anything though, it appears in 1.2 I can already build level 5 MICs--I checked with process_cq.

The problem is not the MIC level; it's that Brihentin are only recruitable in expansion provinces, not Casse homeland provinces. The only solution is to place the Brihentin entries one MIC level lower so that they are available under a type II government as well.

Ahhh yes that's it. I only realised Cenabum wasn't a homeland province after I captured it. Darn. I'll do that, so that I can train them. Thanks! It's a bit silly that the Casse own all of Gaul and have to rely on Caledonian, Goidilic and Belgian cavalry only available in 1-2 provinces each in the north.
