View Full Version : Can a Contralto voice sound feminine?
Part of an ongoing argument I have been having with someone over a certain female singer. He claims that a deep voice is completely masculine, and that a female singer who employs a deep voice during parts of her song is therefore masculine. What do you all think?

I've been informed by my singing friend (studying singing etc):
"yes, but rarely"

There are a lot of other factors that go into making a voice feminine aside from pitch.
I am thinking of Anastasia Prikhodko in particular.

And these two in particular she uses the really deep voice:

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think there is anything a-feminine about that.

There are few absolutes in biological processes. There for the answer has to be "yes".
