Grats Martok!
But isn't this the wrong section? or did Tosa mean Arena?

He's been doing the Main Hall gig for so long it's easy to get confused! :laugh4:
Martok is our new, more permanent, arena moderator. A big thanks to Gregoshi for keeping the fort pinned down until then, and now long live the camel regime! ~D

Congratulations Efendi Martok. May your camel herd continue to be, er, grumpy and uncomfortable to ride (my only personal experience of the gracious beasts). PLs note, that last is not meant to be any commentary on the herd of Orgahs you will also be tending.
Shame to see Gregoshi go as well.
In celebration of our new moderator.

Yay for you. You know, my mother once bought a camel saddle at a yard sale. No kidding. It was made of wood and of a strange shape! Just thought you would like to know.

All this talk of Martok makes me want to go and watch some Deep Space Nine. That was such an underappreciated show considering season 4 onwards was pure sc-fi gold. Dare I even say it, Deep Space Nine trumps The Next generation.
Anyway, random thought tangents aside, congratulations Martok.

Thanks for taking over Martok. I, er, don't have a baton or anything to pass on to you...just some hairpins Her froggyship gave to me. I can't get the darn things to stick when I throw them. Maybe you will have better luck.
Game on!

Thanks everyone! I'll try to keep the camels from taking over the place and getting underfoot. (Of course, I may require your....assistance from time to time.) ~D
First off, I invite everyone to join me in thanking Gregoshi for assuming temporary custody of the Arena while the staff figured out more permanent arrangements. He's done a great job here, and his efforts are very much appreciated.
Of course, no poor words of mine can ever, EVER, even remotely express the full depth of my sincere gratitude to (and immense appreciation for) our own Lady frogbeastegg. She has been -- and remains -- a tremendous asset to both the Arena and the Org in general. She's left some awfully big shoes to fill, and I won't pretend I can truly replace her; at most, I can only succeed her. You are a gentlewoman of the very highest calibre, froggy, and my hat's off to you. ~
@Beskar: Heh. Love the poster! Very well done. :beam:

Well I can't *quite* agree with that last sentence (TNG will always be my favorite, if only by the slimmest of margins), but I otherwise concur with your statement. It is/was an excellent show, especially once it found its groove in the 3rd/4th season.

Heh. Not likely; I'm all thumbs when I try and use those things! I've poked myself several times already.... :sweatdrop:
Game on!

Good luck and have fun, Martok.
You'll have half the population playing Birth of the Federation before you know it.

It's all in the wrist. Once you've got the basics down pat it's simply a matter of learning how to adjust for range, wind speed, and height difference. Alternately, you can walk up to people and stab them; the pins are quite robust and have a titanium alloy core. Eyeballs are good targets, nice and soft.

Ah. Was it the pin with the cherry blossom design? Oh dear. Stay calm, don't panic, drink this tea :hands over steaming cup of nasty smelling herbal tea: and let me know if you start getting the irrepresable urge to post my little pony pics. Fortunately it's only one of the comedy effect poisons.
Yes, well, maybe I'd better take the pins with me. Some of them are kind of fatal. Others are very fatal. Specialist equipment and so on. I'll lock them away in a display case or something.

... .
Lol! Funny you should write that--I just happened on an old PM exchange with Martok from a couple of years ago. On a tight budget that isn't allowing me to spend much on new games, I started playing BoTF just the other day for the first time in a decade. It's still a lot of fun to this ST/TNG diehard. Good thing I saved that PM!
Cheers on your new appointment, Martok.

He got me playing it as well! :laugh4: Can't stand Star Trek, aside from the occasional bit of Voyager. I do love my PC strategy games however.
I played and enjoyed the demo back in the day but never brought the game. Years later along comes Martok ...
Good luck and have fun, Martok.
Thank you, m'lady.

I can but hope. ~D
Of course, it's all part of my cunning plan....
Step 1: Get everyone to play BOTF.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

Hmm. Well I've not had the urge to post MLP pics, but I have had this weird fascination with rainbows and pastel colors the last couple days. I hope the effect isn't permanent! :sweatdrop:

That....might be for the best. I long ago discovered that I probably shouldn't handle anything more dangerous than a spoon. :skull:

Thanks Togakure.
In regards to Birth of the Federation, have you gotten into the mods yet? Or are you still playing the vanilla game? I ask that because for as much as I enjoy the original version, I cannot emphasize enough how much the modding community has improved upon it.

Heh. Yes, I'm proud to say that I've gotten probably a good couple dozen or so folks playing -- it not flat-out hooked -- on Birth of the Federation over the years. It's an accomplishment (however dubious!) that I'll admit to being insufferably pleased over. ~D

It is my honor, Martok-san. 's back.
Which mod(s) would you recommend? Preferably one overall mod with the "enhancement mods" you think are essential? I looked at the sight you linked me to, but I was unable to determine which mods were worth the time and investment to install. I was anxious to play so I just installed Joker's latest patch and dived into vanilla. I did find Calladice's FAQ--it really opens one's eyes to how deep you can get into the game if you put your mind to it, and I didn't realize people actually played it seriously in MP.
Somehow Martok has hijacked his own welcome thread and turned it into a Star Trek thread... the camel lord moves in mysterious ways though.

Well Froggie started it, lol. Seriously, I did think about that, but I figured it's his welcome thread and he can take it wherever he likes.
Do PM me your preferred mods, Martok. I'm looking forward to trying them.

Edit: Ahaha! playing this game, I was inspired to wiki up and read about the Klingon ships. Somehow I ended up here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martok). I didn't realize you took your moniker from a Klingon character--I should have known (I'm a TOS/TNG fan but didn't watch a lot of the latter series so didna recognize it).
Edit2: AHAHA! This is quoted from 'your' Personal Life on the wiki: Martok views marriage as another form of combat, albeit one disguised and more subtle than most.
