Do you mostly agree or disagree with this statement
I maintain restraint is an invention of the bourgeoise in order to keep the prole in a constant state of restraint, thereby maximising the pleasure while minimizing obstacles/work.
Now you see the oprresion inherent in the bloody system
Restraint from certain hedonistic desires is a good thing.

Don't know what you mean by hedonism. Some forms of hedonism involve restraint.
lthough Epicureanism is a form of hedonism, insofar as it declares pleasure as the sole intrinsic good, its conception of absence of pain as the greatest pleasure and its advocacy of a simple life make it different from "hedonism" as it is commonly understood.
In the Epicurean view, the highest pleasure (tranquility and freedom from fear) was obtained by knowledge, friendship and living a virtuous and temperate life. He lauded the enjoyment of simple pleasures, by which he meant abstaining from bodily desires, such as sex and appetites, verging on asceticism. He argued that when eating, one should not eat too richly, for it could lead to dissatisfaction later, such as the grim realization that one could not afford such delicacies in the future.
Expanding the mind involves things like reading, which may require restraint, but most people who read enjoy reading, so

Restraint and moderation in all thins, young man.
Hedonism would actually be counterproductive to work. Unless you are your own slave-driving workaholic.

I hope not, otherwise I'll become a drooling idiot...
And I'm moderate, some of my Brethren relatives forbid TV, dancing, theatre, etc...

Sounds like they lead an interesting life, full of excitement and wonder.

Some of us have clogged toilets to worry about! No time for this fun and games business!

Perhaps I should have said:
"Sounds like they lead an interesting life, full of excrement and wonder"

Restraint and moderation in bad things. Good things, the more the merrier

I'm actually inclined to agree with the hypothesis: sticking to the well moderated and beaten track is not something that challenges your mind very much. And without the challenges your mind does become retarded (unable to learn new things, which is its primary function). That said I don't think hedonism in the long run will make you happier. Only bored quicker.
