OK, I've said this many times but I've gottten next zero replies for each thread. I cant get the Swiss to work. It lets me play turns, but when I wanna fight a battle, the red bar fills only 1/6 of the way and stops and freezes. I've changed the king's unit to royal knights. I've given the Swiss the ability to crusade, and build gothic units. The leader has been placed in Switzerland. What's wrong? It´s kind of hard to tell with this info. It seems you know what to do to make the Swiss playable, so the problem has probably something to do with the units.
I suggest you try to solve this step by step. First only make changes to the Early.txt to create the Swiss faction, and leave the unit file alone. If this works you at least know that the problem is in the unit file. By changing the units you want one at a time and run a test after that, you can find out which unit causes the problem.
The only thing I can think of right now is that you forgot to delete the Swiss Pikemen as royal unit, so that there is a conflict between RK and SP.

i already deleted the sap as the royal unit and still dont work

have you been editing the same file
all the time or have you started over
several times.

The problem sounds familiar just can't put my finger on it at the moment.
My advice is mod smething else
for the moment so you don't go nut's.

Alman send me a copy of the early text file and I will find your problem I have been playing the Swiss for quite some time and would be glad to send you a zip of the Mod so you can play it or look at the changes I made and compare I did not change the Kings unit to royals I like SAP'S but that should not be a problem it might be with the crusading part because they are CATHOLIC_ISOLATIONIST this might be it because some of the SWISS stuff is hardcoded and cannot be changed here is my mail ronin27k@aol.com send me yours and I will gladly check it out like I said I learned to mod doing the Swiss and have been fairly successful at it I like the SWISS and the pikes so I guess I am a swissaholic .Also the Gothic units are specific to the HRE and Italians also they are CATHOLIC_EXPANSIONIST which the Swiss are not so if you added them via the early .txt file it will not work

well it would but you have to make them swiss and early
and all the rest.And seen as he didn't say he did
we can assume he didn't so that will make it crash
for starters.
i think you hit you nail on the head with both the options

Alman9898 I took a quick look at your swissmod file and I see quite a few problems the structure in the setstartdate and other date data blocks are all incorrect you made quite a few changes to some things that did not need changing the Swiss are easy to activate alot of there stats are put in already and some are hardcoded so changing them will cause the game to crash,in the makeunit section I saw alot of cost errors and units that should not have been their, take alook at the file I sent you and note the changes and take some time to read up on some of the other mod documentation thats available that is how I am learning, I await your response...

how can there be problems with the setstartdate I didnt change it. like what units? I used Wes's new units from the Med Mod - Crusader Fedual Sergeants,etc. What did u change?
Also, this very odd. I sent my friend my mod and he didnt change anything and the Swiss worked.

Edit - remember this mod isnt intended JUST for the Swiss.

You have alot of erroneuos entries and the de-bug utilty will cause it to shut down. on the setstartdate I WAS OFF I meant above it you have 3 incorrect entries on lines cnshorttitle:: and cdline:: also cdpredefined is set to true should be set to false this alone will cause the mod not to show on the selection screen if you say someone was able to run this I would like to know how, I am not criticizing you or any who wrote this I am just trying to help you find the cause to your problem I found errors in province attributes,tradeable goods
a alot of info looks like it was deleted and tabs are out of place , It would take alot of changes to correct I think you would be better to start over, First read some more modding documentation , I am no expert but I learned by reading as much material as I could lay my hands on people who have mods running are our best reference sources we can all learn from them,good luck P.S. I though that "1" represented how many barques there are. When i have nothin there the mod doesnt work. Also when i set those predefined lines to "false" my mod never shows up. it always shows up now. the resource probs - i added gold to switzerland and the sinai to help out those poor provinces (actually thAt was Wes's idea, ijust used it)

Try cd_predefined::false no qoutes then cd_line::"My Mod" with qoutes then cn_short_title:: Mod no qoutes this should work look at the file I sent as an example..

I do not know what I was thinking you are right about the barque the 1 is the correct entry, and as far as adding gold to any province that is not a problem you can mod the resources and trade goods to anything you want and it will work, but you have some prov names that are out of sequence, that is a simple fix it is only one at the very top it says ANJOU,ALGERIA,ANJOU they should run in sequence .try fixing the cn cd line problem and see if your mod shows up on the selection screen and let me know...

The Swiss work any other errors that you spotted that I should correct? Even though it works it goes pretty slows loading.

Slow loading is not mod realted . So if it shows up on the selection screen and is playable problem solved.. you mentioned something about a battle problem I was not clear on what was that? P.S.Also play a few turns and try as many differnt commands as you can build units, buildings, etc. then save if you do not get any freezes or crash you are good to go

well i jinxed myself. the game must have sensed my happiness and decided not to let me fight after i reboot the computer...

it doesnt load the battles anymore just like before. (PS I didnt even mod anything after that)

the battle problem is THE ONLY problem and it's back after a short success

the battles do not load. the red bar only fills up part of the way

I would like to know some more about your system and also when you say the Swiss do not show up in battle exactly what do you mean are you doing a custom battle ,campaign describe exactly what you are trying to do in detail and what happens because if you are trying to be the SWISS in battle I found this SetActiveFaction:: FN_BURGUNDIAN FT_MAJOR
SetActiveFaction:: FN_SWISS FT_MINOR This should be set to MAJOR if you want to activate the SWISS for anything it will not work this way

When I sent you that file, I had recently made the Swiss non-playable cuz they werent working. Now it is MAJOR and it no work.

I dont know much about my system cuz my dad bought it. But he said it our system was more than qualified. We have a Windows ME with 30 GB. That's all I know.

Well I think if it is a loading problem I doubt it is mod related at all it sounds like a system problem of some sort without specifics it is hard to pin down...
