Windows 7 and romeshell??

I have windows 7 and have never really been able to play this game. But now i have and i cant beat ppl in war. So i was wondering how to get romeshell to work on windows 7? Cause i have clicked the "~" key and it doesnt pop up at all. Ive looked everywere and I cant get any leads on what to do. If its for some infrared thing then tell me exactly what to do. TY!

Hm, odd. I've used Romeshell on occasion with my Windows 7 comp and it's worked fine. Is your game fully patched?

Are you pressing Shift + ` (how ~ appears on a keyboard) or are you pressing just `? I would try it both ways before you try to patch

As far as needing a patch, it depends on how you bought the game, if you bought the Gold pac (with RTW and BI) or Eras then it should have been fully patched from install but otherwise you can always download it from here (http://www.filefront.com/13668195/rome_total_war_patch_1-5.zip)

I have tried both and its gold edition eras. So if its fully patched and i've tried patching them recently maybe i can use it now. But say i cant use it now what should i try to do?

From what I've found using google it seems like the issues is most likely related to Infrared devices and this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?123461-Romeshell-with-Windows-7) might be helpful

This Guide (http://windows.org.in/2010/05/how-to-open-up-rome-shell-in-rome-total-war/) is a step by step process to uninstall any infrared devices (assuming you don't want them) but I've never had to do this so I don't know how well it works...
