Question is: if i have received reinforcements led by a family member, does the coming army receive morale benefits from their general, or the one already on the field (the one who led/suffered the attack)?

If you have a general leading reinforcements that has the green trait he doesn't become blooded after the battle, I have always thought that it's only the traits of the general leading the army that attacks (or is attacked) that counts, but I have no other evidence for it. I'm pretty sure I did read it somewhere though.

Yes, the developers have said that the game does not consider a second-in-command: he's just another unit as far as the battle engine is concerned. That said, A.I.-controlled reinforcements are most likely a separate army from the engine's point of view, so they get the morale bonuses from their own commander (and are unaffected by those of your primary commander). This does not apply to player-controlled reinforcements, since these are part of your army even when they do not arrive immediately.

I would assume that a reinforcing army's commander has an effect on his army's morale, etc. The reason I think this is because notice that when you kill a reinforcing general, the camera cuts to him dying. Obviously the engine considers him a battlefield commander if this occurs and so his traits would affect his army. Contrast this to when a secondary FM in an army dies and the camera does not cut to him although you receive a message saying he has died. Therefore, his traits do not affect an army.

I have disabled the close-ups of the general's death: do they also occur when the commander of a player-controlled reinforcing stack dies? Because that would argue against my theory.

Not sure. I don't think I've ever let the commander of my reinforcements die tbh. They do occur for commanders of AI reinforcements though so I don't see why it would differ.

happened once to me(the silly sodd was killed when charging in the flank of some agyraspidai) but it seemed to be more of a "one of your FMs died"-message. IIRC it's the same with "second in command" FMs that accompany the general.
