Because I spend most of my org time here, I felt it appropriate to post this here. If not, moderators please re-direct this somewhere appropriate.

I must resign from all games here in the gameroom, and cancel all future and current games that I am hosting. I may or may not be able to return in short order, or even in the long term. I will, as soon as it is convenient, post an explanation for this, because I am certain I will receive lots of questions which I would like to answer.

You are all my friends, and I feel like I have come to know most of you pretty well over the years. Playing and hosting games with you and otherwise enjoying your company has been one of the finest privileges of my life. I have felt more welcome here than anywhere else, and never without a kind-hearted person to turn to. I have not forgotten a single name from all of the games I have played, which is unusual for me because I usually have terrible memory. But I can say you've all made an impression on me, and if this is good-bye, then I will feel as though I have lost more than a friend; but many, many friends.

To those of you who know what is going on, and there are only a few of you, I would ask that you please refrain from spreading any gossip to anyone. I request to be able to make my explanations and post a proper good-bye personally, please respect that request. I will keep the rest of you informed as soon as is convenient. Please also respect this request; do not send private messages or public messages asking those close to me what is going on. I will answer your questions personally and in a single post, and I would like to limit such kinds of inquiries and respect the privacy of others.

If things improve, I will return, but I don't know when that is.

Thank you all again, for everything.

Seamus Fermanagh

All the best from me as well. I hope everything works out and whatever it is, can be resolved in your favour.

I sincerely hope to see you back here soon.

Now that I have a few moments, I will give some details.

This is somewhat personal information, so don't look if you're not interested.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life. My car broke down again, and the last time this happened I had to spend borrowed money to fix it. My employer has not been sending me my pay through direct deposit as they promised, and I am missing large sums of money. large for me, anyway. My temporary job has ended, with no prospects of replacing that job. My relationship of over 2 years has ended. I am now without a place to stay, a means of transportation, a means of supporting myself, and will very soon be without my rock, best and closest friend, and heartfelt love. On top of everything else, my family situation is decidedly non-supportive or nonexistent. I will experience a lack of internet access soon.

I am tapping all resources available to me to resolve my current nightmare. If there are any people in the Florida area (or surrounding area.... or anywhere, really) who might be willing to offer me a place to rest my head, please contact me privately.

I'm not here to ask for anything else, just to explain.

And now, I would like to give my personal good-byes, should it be necessary and I cannot do it later. In alphabetical order.

AVSM: It's been a pleasure. I am still embarrassed from having unintentionally fudged up your chances in the Council of Villains game. I hope you continue to do well.

Alexander the Pretty Good: Thank you so much for joining my games. I still get a kick out of you being the original ATPG. You may have the acronym back now. :laugh4:

Andres: Thank you for the kind wishes. Your interest in mafia games, and recruiting for such games, is what made me curious enough to check it out. I'll always be grateful for that, because you set in motion some of the best times I've had. It's been a blast, and I really have you to thank for that. I don't think anyone is a more entertaining mafioso than you are. And you always seemed to have a cool head no matter what was happening in games. You also have the coolest avatar of all time. Don't ever change, my friend.

ArpeggiateTHIS: You've only been on here a short while, and already you've been such a fun and challenging player and opponent. I still have to believe your performance in the Askthepizzaguy mafia was brilliant.... no matter how tough a spot you got yourself in, you just kept talking your way out of it. Refuge in audacity, my friend. Has to be the best "so bad, it's good" performance I've ever seen. In the parasite game; you were a slippery thing, but rest assured, "me crush you good". Or, I would if I could. You lucky, lucky....

atheotes: Always mafia. And yet, that's not a compelling enough reason to lynch you, because you are that darn good. I enjoyed your performances in the Daggers game, Murder Manor III, Star Wars, Resident Evil... the list goes on and on. Keep kicking butt, my friend.

Autolycus: I cannot believe I'm not going to get to do writeups involving Autolysis Man. I mentioned to Csargo how your "superpower" could actually be used to productive effect, and it was convoluted enough to make him laugh. That would have been fun, just like every other experience I've had with you in mafia/NOTW. It's been a pleasure hosting games with you in them, because you always manage to make them interesting.

Backwards logic: I'll always remember you as the most vicious and evil zombie of them all, in my Resident Evil:Dark Falls game. But you've also been a deadly, deadly opponent and mafia partner. There are a pile of skulls in your wake, and your skills are to be feared. You were also the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog in my Monty Python and the Holy Grail game, and did very well there. RUN AWAY!!!! :skull: :skull: :skull:

Beefy187: I never could tell when you were mafia. You had a very rare and special gift to almost always defy my analysis, and you were able to block out my obviously alien telepathic powers. Your crowning moment was duping me so hardcore in the Godfather Part III game that I defended you up and down, all the way up until the end, even when basically everyone else had turned against you. You may not have won the game, but you soundly defeated me. You're omnipresent, and always fun to play with. You have to realize you're probably the most beloved mafia player around. Nobody doesn't like Beefy.

Beskar: You bring a passion to the game that is probably unmatched. You are better than people might give you credit for, and you're at least as stubborn as I am. That gets you into trouble sometimes, just like me. But it's always fun watching you go out there and try to fight the good fight. As excellent a player as you are, I really do enjoy your small games most out of all the small game hosts. You know what fun is, and you bring it, every time. Thanks for being my close friend.

Boudica: Miss ya! I am still chuckling at the line in the Settlement game where you asked to see my soul "and other pertinent bits". :laugh4: You may have been gone for a while but I certainly noticed the absence you left behind.

Captain Blackadder: You've been in so many of my games and I've had the distinct pleasure of being in some of yours. I still remember some of our greatest battles together... Jubal's mafia, and the showdown we had in the Beer mafia. Congrats once again on your total epic pwnage in the Resident Evil Dark Falls game. Sorry I didn't get around to doing all of the post-game so I could explain in detail how badass you guys were.

Centurion1: I wish I could bunvote you one last time. Never forget, Centurion1 is always innocent, even when everyone is dead certain he is mafia. :sweatdrop:

Chaotix: You are a criminal mastermind, and never to be underestimated. In every game I am in with you, I'm sure that you'll either make things very difficult for me, or school me on awesomeness. Your games are an inspiration for me, and maybe half of them wouldn't have existed at all if I hadn't been stealing your ideas following your example.

Choxorn: I believe we had most of our epic confrontations on CFC, where we took turns demonstrating how much we rock. Some days you get the pizza, some days the pizza gets you. You can be relied on as a solid, awesome townie, and when you're brought down I know it is because of inactivity in others, not because of anything you did wrong. Thanks for joining my games and fighting the good fight!

civplayah: RL always seems to be getting in the way of the awesomeness I know you are and can be. Thank you for replacing into Lylat Wars when I needed it most, and thanks for joining my games and always being slightly more suspicious than me.

CountArach: It's been a while since I've seen you in a game. That's a shame, because you are one of the greats. Hope all is well with you.

Craterus: You had one of the loneliest, and yet most interesting, adventures in my Resident Evil Dark Falls game. Your lone crusade against the zombie horde ended up helping your fellow townies win the game. I love your final stand with the Gatling gun against the zombies.... that's one heck of a way to go out, my friend. Stay away from chainsaws!

Csargo: Vote: Sasaki. It's impossible to tell if you're mafia, because you are the ultimate definition of a lurker. That makes you ever so dangerous in my mind, which is probably why I almost always went after you. Sorry about that! I was looking forward to your return. Don't let them lynch you, my GLORIOUS friend, and always Vote: Sasaki.

Cultured Drizzt Fan: Your games were consistently fun, and your participation in games was also consistently awesome. You're definitely one of the greats. Even though you designed a game I was doomed, DOOMED in right from the start. Two scanners plus Askthepizzaguy being mafia equals fail. Even so, moar Swords and D20's, please!

Cute Wolf: It was a pleasure being your mafia partner, sorry I bungled up the timing on that last round. :sweatdrop: Nearly had a flawless one. Thanks for listening to my suggestions, somehow we made it.

Death is Yonder: Some of your analysis posts are downright Pizza-ish. You've always been a great ally, a great opponent. Thanks for allowing me to constantly make puns at your expense.

Diamondeye: You're always mafia! Always, I tells ya!!! *shakes fist* It's been an entertaining ride. Thanks for hosting games, thanks for joining mine, thanks for playing. Thanks also for your kind words in private. You're a good guy. Remember, Diamonds are Forever.

DisgruntledGoat: Always a pleasure. We've had some epic battles, haven't we? You really know how to turn up the pressure on a suspect. I wish you well, and hopefully I'll see you again for our rematch in Capo IV: Disgruntled's Revenge!

Double A: Enjoy your new video games, my friend. We'll all miss you. You can't resist the urge to come back and play mafia again.... you know this to be true. You're definitely one of the best allies to have in a mafia game. That is, of course, when we aren't on opposite teams feeding each other a staggering amount of cow droppings. :bounce:

FactionHeir: Unfortunate victim of my suspicions every single time it wasn't warranted. *facepalm* Sorry I always got it so wrong about you. :wall:

Frozen in Ice: I'll get you my pretties, and your precious little Law Archmage too! The Chaos Archmage will return! Bwahahahahaha....... Thanks for participating in my Resident Evil game. So close, my friend. So close. You're awesomesauce though, never forget that. Tell Boiling in Oil that she's always been an absolute joy. :clown:

GeneralHankerchief: You'll always be the Godfather of the .org. Thanks so much for all you've done to make this place awesome.

Gibsons, Glenn, Glyphz, Gobbledygook: I haven't seen any of you folks in a while, but I remember how much you kicked butt. Glenn, your performance in my Treehouse of Horror game was ever so memorable.

God Emperor: You're a genius, and until everyone here realizes that, you will slowly and quietly destroy them all. I'll be rooting for you, but just remember, me will crush you again! [/Omega]

Iskander 3.1: I must has my Downgradez! But I still has my upgradez. :bounce:

Johnhughthom: You're a living legend. It isn't a true mafia game unless you're there, my friend.

Jolt: You are, and always will be, Jimmeh McJolty. We've had lots of good times. You'll be missed.

Joooray: An awesome mafiosi if there ever was one. I must borrow that stealth cloak of yours. It was a pleasure helping you attain the highest levels of pwnage in the Shadow Fort and Zodiac Mafia. Keep sneaking underneath their radar!

Kagemusha: The only man with cojones bigger than mine. You were a legend when I was just a twinkle in the .org's eye. You are an inspiration to watch whenever you're mafia.

Khazaar: Like Beefy, you seem to be omnipresent. You've been there for basically all of the good times. I hope you continue to do well.

Kukrikhan: We only played in a few games together, but you were always awesome. :2thumbsup:

landlubber: Possibly the greatest name of all time. Whenever I think of you, I start talking like a pirate. YARRRRR!!! Thanks for joining my games. A shame I didn't have more time to get to know you.

LittleGrizzly: I hope my obsession didn't drive you away! :laugh4: Capo III, man I just would not leave you alone. *gives you a bear hug*

Louis IV the Fat: A true joy to participate in games with. You were one of the best parts of the Pirate Ship game.

Major Robert Dump: You were an absolute beast with those improvised bomb weapons in Dark Falls. I hope you're okay and you come home safe soon.

Methos:  Stay away from Mentos and Diet Coke.... Having a mini-rivalry with you was a delight.

Omanes Alexandrapolites: it's been a while, but I still remember your Psycho Mafia performance. Suspecting yourself, pure brilliance. And, you were right. You get the Yoyoma1910 award for figuring out my strange setup before the game was over, and arriving at the right conclusion.

pevergreen: It's been a delight to be able to annoy you from time to time. Still can't get over the image of zombies wearing tutus, seriously.

Psychonaut: A man to be feared, and rightly so. Star Wars, Dark Falls, whatever you're doing, you're usually doing it well. You're a phenomenon.

remake20: Sorry to drop so soon from your game. Hope everything works out well. You're a very promising game host, and I like the ideas you've come up with.

Renata: You're a good friend, and you're an excellent mafioso. Grumble grumble grumble..... :laugh4: I don't feel like I've ever really and truly defeated you.

Rob_the_Celt: My always absent drunken friend. And yet, still the greatest mafia partner I've ever had. How many wins do we have under our belt? You rock, sir.

Romanic: Good lord you're a lot of fun. You're usually right, about a lot of things. I was looking forward to many more chances to face off against you... and seeing the Half-Roman, Half-Machine, All Man in action in the heroes and villains game. Would have been awesome.

Sasaki Kojiro: My mafia skills were nothing until I started paying close attention to you. You are a master artist at this, and I credit you for whatever ability to lie that I have. It's downright effortless now. I respect your townie and mafia abilities as much as anyone. And you are one of the most challenging opponents out there. Oh your Capo III deviousness... that was a masterpiece. Our dueling sacks of cow droppings in the Fight for Inishmore is the battle with you I remember most. Most worthy.

Together, we will destroy all the detective roles and banish them forever! And the lurkers all will die!

Seamus Fermanagh: I honestly couldn't hope to compare to your Capo series. Back in the day, your analysis powers were incomparable, your scum abilities were unbeatable, and your hosting talents are still undeniable. You're a legend among legends. Thanks for the CIA role... OMG thanks for the CIA role.

Secura: I know you're heading for your own hiatus, and the loss will be felt. You're one of the brightest stars of this year, and for good reason. Everything you do is filled with win.

Seon: You're absolutely crazy, and it cracks me up. No one should ever trust you, but you're still too much fun not to work with.

Sigurd: My best ally/nemesis of all time. The partnership/duel to the death we had in Capo III will be remembered until the day I die. And when I have kids, they're all going to hear about the MASTER Berserker. I hope you continue to sack and pillage your way to glory.

Skooma Addict: I can't get enough of that sweet, sweet Skooma. It has been fun... I hope I was entertaining!

Splitpersonality: Our bro-mance will never die. It's a shame you live so far away, because you're definitely someone I'd like to meet someday. My samurai blade will always be yours.

Subotan: There is no shame. Everyone has to leave sometimes unexpectedly. Come back, because you are totally awesome.

Taka: You're a brilliant and dangerous player. I'm sorry about my faux pas. It's always been fun.

TheFlax: You've earned a special place. Words cannot express my gratitude. Everyone needs to know that you are perhaps the most incredibly awesome person I've ever known. Someday I'll be right about you being mafia.... someday. This isn't good-bye, I'm keeping in touch for sure.

TinCow: Nobody could spar with me and keep up like you could. I could never really win when I went against you, rightly or wrongly. When it comes to "the pizza", you can eat an entire big new yorker encased in walls and walls of text, and wolf it down without blinking. It's been a true honor to battle with, and against, you.

White_Eyes:D : You need to come back! My favorite thing about you is that you had almost perfect reverse scumdar when it came to me. Whenever you were accusing me, that was town's cue to leave me alone. A few games couldn't go by without you pleading for my death and having that plea go ignored. That said, you brought a lot of unique personality to the game that can't be replaced at all. I've noticed you're gone.

Wideyedwanderer: Sorry to jet, but I'm in a hurry! Thanks for joining the Lylat Wars game. Thanks for hosting Zelda. I wish there were more time to find out all the other ways you're awesome.

Winston Hughes: Everyone at CFC knows why you're awesome. Soon, the whole of the earth will know. It's not really a mafia game unless you're there.

Wishazu: Leon S. Kennedy, heroic victor of the townies, slayer of mountains of zombies, and total badass with a samurai blade. You are the definition of win.

Your participation in my Dark Falls game was worth every frustration caused by hosting it. Wear that #1 ranking (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?123875-Resident-Evil-Dark-Falls-Game-thread&p=2493899&viewfull=1#post2493899) proudly, my friend.

woad&fangs: I KNEW YOU WERE GUILTY!!! I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!! BUT THEY, THEY WOULDN'T LISTEN!!! :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: Congratulations, sir. You went up against one of the most aggressive cases I've ever made against a suspect, while I was also simultaneously nailing your mafia partner, and somehow survived it all.

I will have vengeance. This I vow.

Yaropolk: I've worked with you and against you, and I have to say you're probably one of the best allies a player can ask for. I especially like our Swords and D20's encounters.

Yaseikhaan: There's an aura of badassery around you. Your performance in Lylat Wars, especially at the end, earns my nod for most improved townie. That combined with the fact that you're one of the greatest scumbags of all time, plus your hosting and moderating contributions, have me in awe.

YLC: We're so alike and so different. Sitting and discussing game ideas with you was always full of surprising results. I hope you are coming back for good this time.

Yoyoma1910: Forever etched in history due to your Golden Rule performance, and solution. It's been a while, but I remember it like yesterday.

Zack: It's been a pleasure. Don't ever stop being da beast!

All others I have missed: Sorry, I went down my friends and contacts list and it isn't comprehensive. Contact me privately and I'll tell you how awesome you are, because you are.

finally, my love and best friend:

Diana Abnoba: I will miss you the most of all.... out of everyone I've ever met. Please stay.... please keep in touch. I love you so very, very much.

If I can come back, I will. I promise.

Thanks for the kind words, ATPG  I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who felt a little  inside at reading this, because if anything, this flood of compliments and good wishes illustrate what a personality this forum might lose in you. I very sincerely hope that you'll be able to put your private life and economy together, and that you can keep in touch with all of us, your friends who only know you and speak to you online.

I have a strong suspicion that you'll get over this hurdle and come out on the other side intact, if not stronger. Although your financial situation is unhinged at the moment, I think you'll pull through, because judging from my impression of you, you're a charming, intelligent and persisting person, and I'm sure that's worth alot. When it comes to personal problems, I'm not sure how much the word of kid who only just hit 20 means, but I know that I'll always have a moment to spare if you need someone to talk to. You're worth it, mate.

I really, really hope that this crisis blows over and we can have you back in good shape.

Until then, the best of wishes and good luck, sincerely,
Your friend,

I'm so sorry pizza, you've been a great person to have around and have really made me feel welcome and helped me get into playing the games we play hear. I wish I could do something to help you! Like Diamondeye said, I've gotten a clear impression that you are a great person and that things will work out one way or another for you. Best of luck to you!!!

I hope to hear from you again on these forums, probably when you come charging back in at the top of the world!

This isn't a very appropriate comment, but I came up with his name. ;)

I'll miss you so much, Pizza, and I'm so sorry I had to see you go and I'm incredibly sorry your relationship ended with Diana. And whoever that 'rock, best, closest friend' is I'm very sorry for the loss of them. I swear if I lived in Florida and was old enough to have my own place I'd take you up on that offer in a heartbeat. Do you know the first game I played in was one of yours?

I really hope you come back, because without you, mafia just won't be fun anymore. But, in case you don't, bye.

This is sad news, indeed. Askthepizzaguy, I'm sorry to hear things are going so poorly for you right now; believe me when I say I sympathize entirely too much with your current (and unfortunate) situation. I wish I could offer more than mere condolences, but at least know that you have it, and that you're in my -- and indeed, our -- thoughts.

You're a good guy, ATPG, and the Org will definitely be a poorer place while you're gone. Please come back to us when you're able, and I sincerely & ardently hope things look up for you soon.

Though I replied to the the similar thread at the TWC, I realise that a single reply is not enough. You are without a doubt the most beloved person on the .org and with good reasons. We will all miss you very much and hopefully you will return soon:heart:

Will miss you Pizza. The Org won't be the same without your presence...
You've been one of the most influential mafia player around as well as one of the best hosts... And most of all one of my best mate on Org.
It doesn't sound like the best time for you. But we all know how good you are and I know you'll pull through.
And if you do get stuck, I'm sure you know where to search for help. Right here.

Wish you all the best

Update: One thing that mafia games have taught me is the incredibly awesome power of networking. Blame Capo III.... Through my extensive list of connections, I have not one, not two, but at least three options now for resolving the situation.

Officially, Mafia has changed my life, and rescued me from that which I could not resolve by myself. Thank you everyone for offering your support. Presently I have... places to retreat to and rest my head; more than generous offers of assistance, which I am going to decline as it is my policy not to ask for nor receive that which I could possibly, in some fashion, make do without. Things are bad, but I already have borrowed money to repay and I must attend to that if I can, and the lead I have in mind is promising as it also includes potential places to find a job, even know of job openings. When I am okay, I will repay the kindness I've already received. I have much, much RL stuff to attend to but I will be in a place, temporarily, which allows me to drop by and say hi.

You fellows know the online version of me, which as I explained to Andres and some others way back when; total opposite of who I am IRL. I am not outspoken, not naturally socially inclined, and almost completely unable to make friends or network due to the shy. My 200+ friends on here and my very very few friends out there are a testament to that. This community has allowed me to find myself, and helped me work with others in a way I have never before been able to. Through you guys I have been able to tap into that other self, and grow as a person. That other self is how I am pulling through this. I know without it I would have been lost and unsure of how to proceed.

When I have a stable job, stable residence, etc.... and things turn around, I will be back. Could be a bit. But thank you all, especially to certain people, you know who you are.

Ah, Pizza my boy.

I hoped the day wouldn't come, but as I spoke to you on a infrequent basis in the past, it seemed more and more likely. Nothing frustrates me more than wanting to help someone and being completely unable to.

I'm sure you know long posts aren't my forte. Take the break, come back when the RL stuff is in order. Its hard to do, especially with where you are currently. (Up :daisy: without a paddle, but slowly making a paddle thankfully)

I was expecting some tirade about demanding the lower case p, but no, you bring up memories of a game I barely remember, but with the one phrase, a whole situation is brought back into my mind.

Hope to hear from you in the near future.

As a parting gift:

Brendan walked in to Mcdoogals and saw seireikhaan sitting at the bar. He walked up to him and said would you like to buy me a pint? And seireikhaan turned and said no buy your own drink you don't know who I am. Brendan said no but I know this much. I hate anyone who doesnt fight for ireland. He smashed seireikhaan over the head with his beer. are you the blind mice said seireikhaan? Brendan prepared to slit his throat, raising the shard of beer bottle in his hand. Seireikhaan just backhanded him across the face saying "Don't you know who I am?" Brendan was surprised, no one had fought back in this way before. Normally it got physical, not this backhanding stuff! Seireikhaan just kept advancing on Brendan saying "Don't you know who I am?", with each step, backhanding Brendan once more. With a might swing, he knocked Brendan on to the ground. "I'm theHeilyn :daisy:!" and with that, he left the bar. Brendan stayed on the ground, visibly shocked. With a slightly sad face, he just looked around awkwardly and left a card that said Two Blind Mice. As he left he killed Sigurd and said "for Joey".

Goodbye, for now, Brendan the Pizza Guy.

The best of luck to get through your situation ATPG, you will be missed, things just won't be the same ever again. You were the host of my first game, and one of first friends here, and I've enjoyed your quick wit and analytical prowess over these two years.

This is truely sad news Pizza. It's an understatement to say that mafia won't be the same without you. But if my time spent with you in mafia is any indication, you can overcome any problem with your wit and determination. Even if we only know each other through the internet, know that you have many people rooting for you! I hope real life turns around.

It's good to hear you got some help already.

We'll keep a place ready for when you get back.

Until then, take care.

I'm so glad to hear that. Please keep in touch when you can. You know where to find me.

I will miss you a lot. I will hope and pray that you can find work. You have always been one of my favorite internet people and I enjoyed having you in my games, though I'm not sure if I ever got to actually play in a game with you. I'll be honest even though this makes me sound stupid, I am literally on the verge of tearing up upon me reading what's going on for you. I am honored that you think I will be a good host in the future, even though I think I'm bad at it and most of my ideas aren't very original. But thank you for your kind words about everyone. You will be dearly missed.

You're an excellent player, and an unstoppable mafia manipulator - I can honestly say that future mafia games will not be the same without you.

Nevermind the silly thing about the name, just a moment of the time.

I have not noticed this thread until now I admit shamefully. I saw the one you posted at the .net but I didn't know you posted one here as well. If you are not able to stick around for much longer I would like to say this. You have inspired me as a player and I have shamelessly stolen much of your philosophy under the guise of "taking advice". I have learned much from you and you have unknowingly brought sanity to the tumultuous dichotomy that is my mind. I delude myself into thinking that you are my teacher and I the student for it's a pleasant thought, for me at least. Update:

My old tracfone hadn't been used in so long, since it's expensive and I had access to a land line phone, that it is an old model and my number got taken away and I can't reactivate it.

So, in order to collect the 1,000+ dollars I am owed from my previous employer, get phone calls from potential employers, and have a number I can mark down on job applications, I ordered and received the cheapest most awful looking phone I could get from tracfone and now I have minutes and a phone number and a phone.

Next is job applications in this new area.

If I clear the next hurdle, which is the job itself, then..... it all goes away. The whole nightmare, goes away. And, I will be able to confirm that I'm not going anywhere from this site.

And, this thead can be thankfully closed and hopefully forgotten.

Until that time, it is still all up in the air. Really appreciate the support, guys. That much I won't forget.

No, I don't have good news this time.

The temporary location that I am staying is too temporary to be of use. The friend who offered to let me stay with them is having trouble making ends meet and is probably going to move to another state at the end of the month. There's no way I could possibly afford to pay for a lease on this apartment, so all I've done is delay the inevitable for another month.

I didn't have a fall-back plan before this all went disastrous for me, and I didn't figure on this blowing up in my face too. I have no earthly idea what to do.

I just don't know, guys. I'll think on it, but.... damn.

If I could force all the suspects to sit down and have them answer mafia-related questions, I just might be able to do some good. But somehow I don't think it works that way, unfortunately.

Besides, real investigators are always trying to solve the crimes on Day Two, before anyone else gets hurt. They don't even let a few more suspects die first so they can narrow it down. Amateurs.

As with other offers of help, I must decline until I've spent every dollar I have and exhausted all my options. I don't consider my friends a piggy bank.

If things go as I hope this Monday, I won't need anyone's help, and I will be standing on my own two feet again, and I will be able to repay what I've borrowed. Thank you however for the sentiment, it does mean a lot to me, and it is one of the reasons why I love this community and consider it the best place to hang out in all the tubes spanning all the interwebs.

The main reason for this thread was to say proper good-byes, because at the time I had indeed run out of money and options and that threatened to disconnect me from all of you. A temporary job (finally got my pay from that job, which they originally didnt send me...) and borrowed money later, I am still here, but I was getting down to my last month's worth of reserves. I need the interview on Monday to go well.

This seemed to impress a number of employers who commented positively on it, sadly though THOSE employers weren't hiring.

What's your advice guys, if I fill out an online application to literally a dozen locations in a company (say, Wendy's restaurants) and it sends an auto-reply to my email instructing me that they're reviewing my application and no further communication is necessary, what should I do?

Should I follow that instruction, or should I follow the advice of basically everyone I've spoken to who says call them anyway, talk to the manager personally, make sure they know I am interested?

I don't want to not follow instructions, but I also want to take every avenue of advancement available to me. Would it hurt my chances of getting hired, or help, if I ignored the instruction, or ignored the advice I've been given about follow-up calls?

If you weren't aware, all Federal Government jobs are posted online at http://www.usajobs.gov/. They're searchable by geographic area, which is useful. Even if there's nothing currently listed that fits your background/education, it's worth putting on your regular search list because new positions are constantly coming open.

I don't have much experience with applying for a job, since I got hired before I finished my studies and haven't been jobless ever since.

That said, I know for a fact that many employers prefer an old-fashioned letter with curriculum vitae in attachement. Maybe it's a Belgian thing, though, but that's how it is here.

If you've got two nameless pieces of paper in front of you, its a 50/50 chance of who you pick, but if you have one nameless paper and one Pizzaguy, the guy that called up, said he was keen, well, you're going to pay attention to that one.

If you weren't aware, all Federal Government jobs are posted online at http://www.usajobs.gov/. They're searchable by geographic area, which is useful. Even if there's nothing currently listed that fits your background/education, it's worth putting on your regular search list because new positions are constantly coming open.

But to get a Fed. job you kinda have to know someone to pull strings.

I have only paid attention to things here just today after quite some time, and I was intending to investigate what games are upcoming and if it may be a good time to return for a session or two.
I saw this thread and thought perhaps I had been hanging around a forum too long to have seen the very initial rise of ATPG's prominence in games here and his resignation.

Well now, when I scrolled down the list and saw that my name was even extant in his memory I immediately lost all doubt about his statement that he remembered all with whom he had played. That is remarkable.

But more so it is highly and rarely genuine, especially in any corner of the internet, to find someone who is so good-natured to all, for I certainly have not deserved it here! Indeed, anonymity is wont to make an individual considerably weaker in virtue and more courageous in vice, but I find myself wondering instead if ATPG is as hearty and true in his physical reality as he is manifest here - for if he is - where has he found time to himself with all the support and friends he must have outside this medium?

I admit, I have little respect for the internet, and I am prone to mocking those who take solace and social refuge in it, but this is not something to be found in ATPG, he appears to me to be one who remains honest and fair even in an environment designed to make devils of less disciplined fellows.

Everything you have done here on the fora ATPG amounts to an exemplary display of better humanity, you have my respect and gratitude, and I am certain that you will find a just reward for your merits.

Yes and good luck too..

Glenn.

Interview, tomorrow, 2:30 PM at Pizza Hut of all places. (Pizza, you've saved my life again!)

You send off 100 applications and one actually bites. Or should I say cheesy bites? Now I have to figure out where in the heck this one is, because I filled out applications for places I am dead sure I can't even reach. :laugh4:

Okay it is 10 mins away, good. And, I haven't canceled my car insurance just yet, so I should be okay.

I know you wish me luck, so you don't have to say it again. :beam: Hopefully I get the job this time. I should, I left Pizza Hut with 2 weeks notice voluntarily so I could start college and I have experience doing everything in the store. If I don't get the job this time I will be convinced there is a God and he's angry with me for saying he's not real.

:laugh4: I'd better get the job this time, dang it!

Also, Glenn, of course I remember you, and you were in more games of mine than just the Treehouse one. I remember everyone, including some of those people that only played a few times, or dropped before finishing, like Flax's friend jillyfae, and Scienter, and even Veronica "Trouble" from the Capo game. I still miss my Quintus.JC and wish he'd come back. And Elite Ferret!

I don't know why, because I usually have such a terrible memory. I guess I've had too much fun to let any of it go.

But that was a very touching post, Glenn. Nobody expects you to be a saint, occasional bad behavior doesn't mean you're a bad person, it just means you have weaknesses just like the rest of us. My weakness is, as Cartman would put it, "Your family's poor, Pizza! Your family's poor! Pizza! You need to put your cardboard box up for a second mortgage!" and sometimes having a bit of a loud mouth which I need to stick my foot in sometimes.

 Made my day feel a little better.

It depends on the store. One store I worked at said you could have a personal pan pizza for free.

Those things didn't keep me full when I was a child, and I'm allegedly a full grown man now. I make large pizzas disappear in a single sitting.

But it's better than the zero I'm getting now.

Hey, I hope you get it ATPizzaG!

As to the pizza's, if you get one free pizza, how many toppings can you put on it? Because if you loaded enough toppings on there you could make quite a meal out of it.
Of course, the management might not be so happy about that...

Askthepizzaguy

I don't know yet. I should know within a few days.

I know I nailed that second interview. There was someone else being interviewed, though, as is always the case. I think they were being interviewed for answering phones, because they didn't show up in a car and that's all they talked about was phones. Still, I don't know if there have been other interviews. I do know that both the manager and the assistant manager who interviewed me seemed more than moderately impressed by what I came to the table with, but they could have other candidates.... you never know.

They told me they were going to run my motor vehicle history report. I haven't had an accident in 3 years, and because I was only driving when I was going out job hunting, I managed to avoid tickets. The only thing on there should be that I let my registration expire, which I paid for and paid the ticket for, and the only reason I let it expire was because I'm a poor person.

I think there may be one additional ticket for letting my tag expire last year too. :shame: I am so glad I was insured both times. I had to let my insurance expire several times as well, but I reinstated it whenever there was a chance to get another driving job. I don't recommend it because if something bad happens that's the end of your happiness for a good long time, but you know, if you're out of money, you're out of money. And it's so easy to get penalized and you have to pay to get your license back after the state takes it away from you for not having mandatory insurance.

I should have no points on my license and no accidents in the past 3 years, so.... I mean.... seriously, if I don't get this job, there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth and tearing out of hair from my head. Would be a nice Christmas present to get it.

And now some words of wisdom from the bottom of the food chain, to whomever might need such advice:

If you're ever not happy with your job, just remember.... it can be much, much worse. Much worse. Make dead certain you line up another job before you leave your current one, and give them two weeks notice minimum. It's hard enough to get a job with an impeccable record, but gaps in work history and being let go involuntarily will put you in the poor house so fast it will make your head spin.

Be sure to squirrel away some money for a rainy day, too. I don't know what I would have done without my college savings getting me through a year and a half of this mess. A rainy day can turn into a rainy couple of years in this economy. My advice if you ever get into this situation: Peanut butter and jelly, oatmeal, hot dogs, 69 cent soda if you feel like splurging. Throw in some canned veggies/fruits and you're golden. Cut the budget by 2/3rds this way. Keep bread in the refrigerator so it will last longer. There's also soup. Broth, noodles, and some canned veggies and meats, heat that up, and it doesn't feel like a bad meal, even though it is made out of the cheapest stuff you can eat. If you aren't working, you really only need to eat 1 meal, you can stretch it out with some veggies here and there. If you're used to having an abundance of food, pacing yourself can be hard. Some days you want to have 3-4 sandwiches, but if you run out, that won't do you any good. When you're hungry you tend to eat faster, and the chemical that tells your brain that you're hungry doesn't go away even when you are full, not for a little while. It needs time to get out of your system. Put 1 sandwich on your plate at a time, and add a side, and eat the side halfway through the sandwich. Try to do something while you're eating, so that you can't just gulp it all down. Don't go for another sandwich for a little bit, let it sit in your stomach for a while. You can really cut down on the food budget that way. I think lots of people around the world have had it harder than that for most of their lives, so while it is a pain to get used to, it is not the end of the world. If you only use gas to go to the bank, hit places for applications, and grab groceries on the way back, you can save yourself hundreds of dollars over a few months' time. You don't need to have a cell and a home phone. I prefer a cell so I can be called even when I am out; cutting the phone line is an option.

Watch every dollar; text messages, music downloads, movie rentals, restaurant food, will nickel and dime and dollar your way through your budget faster than your food will sometimes. There's really no need to have any of those things. If you have net access, you have access to social forums, news websites, encyclopedias, humorous websites, lots of stuff to keep your brain active and eat up some time. I find it cheaper per minute than all other forms of entertainment, and keeping your morale up and staving off depression is important. In a tight pinch, it can be cut as well.

I would go into the various ways to find a job, but most people should be aware of them and I can't say my track record has been too good on that, so I'll defer to the experts in that area.

There'll be scary ghost stories
