Hello all.

If we can get this one started quickly, I may be able to host it. I might have to assign a co-host if I can't finish it due to RL.

Which game this is, is going to be determined by how many players I have signed up.


If I can get 50 players, this is going to be Star Wars: Fall of the Order, (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?128518-Star-Wars-Fall-of-the-Order) the hugely anticipated huge sequel of the hugely popular Sigurd-hosted Star Wars: Return of the Sith (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?126828-StarWars-Return-of-the-Sith-Concluded).

Getting star wars fatigue? Yeah, no kidding. CFC and TWC are also hosting Star Wars games, and that's why I was thinking this might not be the time. But unlike those games, this is based on a story written by Sigurd, involving characters unaffiliated with the two trilogies, involving only Jedi and Sith characters, and no ancillary, non-force-sensitive characters. It's completely different from the Zack-hosted Star Wars.

If I can get 70 or more players, this is going to instead be The Big New Yorker (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?128929-The-Big-New-Yorker-%28TBNY%29-concept-thread), a game which is my take on making a game that is remotely Capo di Tutti Capi-like in both its size and complexity.

If I get 40 players or less, then I will host something besides Star Wars or Big New Yorker. I can't compromise on the integrity of the games by getting fewer players. What do you have to look forward to instead of those games?

I'm cooking something up, a mafia game based off of the Final Fantasy style, with all-new characters. That's your third alternative.

You decide which game you'll be playing, by your interest. Let's aim high. I know the gameroom has been slow, but let's at least make this the Star Wars game.

Okay, the sign-ups are experiencing a considerable slow-down, as expected.

Some delay is caused by several folks getting brand new accounts and waiting for gameroom access, but a whole batch of them just got approved. Others have not read their invitations yet, but it was the weekend so maybe that is to be expected.

I know everyone is anxious to begin, so I am assuming we get between 50-70 players, and I'm setting up the "board" so to speak for that many players, and we'll do the Star Wars game as it is immensely more popular than Big New Yorker *which also tells me I need to tweak the design of that game, or perhaps scrap it altogether*

It has been a while since I looked at all my notes, and I do need to re-balance the force powers and such to make sure the game is as fair as possible.

I'll also have to begin spitting out role PM designs so I can mass produce them. Getting to work on that stuff now. Expect this game to open by the 24th of October!

Anyone who doesn't make it in time can be a reserve. Anyone who dies very early on and was innocent and never got investigation results on any living players will be eligible to be a replacement player. I will be pretty lenient with the WOGs for this game, but if you go totally dead and don't respond to my PMs you are liable to be replaced anyway. If you never read your starting role PM I will replace you a lot faster, though.

We've had a number of talks on the subject over the years, each time the org has been in favour of keeping the standard avatar TW themed only. The URL avatar can be what you want. Go nuts. However, if its not suitable for a child to see it, don't do it. We are a PG-13 board.

I'd also like everyone to be familiar with the gameroom rules. There is no swearing at all here. Other parts you can get away with minor words, but here there are to be none. Replace anything you want with either *****, for each letter, you can't say, for example p**** for pever, it has to be *****. The classy way, however, if you have to, is to substitute a nice little flower. :daisy: The code for that is: :daisy:

In case this helps:


Due to the size of this game and the focus on night actions it has, voting regularly (in the opening rounds, anyway) is less important. I will allow someone to miss up to 4 day phases of voting in a row before I WOG/replace them at the end of the fifth missed day.
You will be able to give orders for any expected absences, which I will automatically execute for you on your behalf. Just tell me what you want your character to do and I'll mark it down.
There will be a Summary/Information thread to help people catch up on what they missed.


You could almost think of this game as the ultimate auto-pilot mafia game. I of course would encourage more active and direct participation, for your own fun and entertainment, but Pizza always needs moar bodies for the fire.

Due to the size of this game and the focus on night actions it has, voting regularly (in the opening rounds, anyway) is less important. I will allow someone to miss up to 4 day phases of voting in a row before I WOG/replace them at the end of the fifth missed day.
You will be able to give orders for any expected absences, which I will automatically execute for you on your behalf. Just tell me what you want your character to do and I'll mark it down.
There will be a Summary/Information thread to help people catch up on what they missed.


You could almost think of this game as the ultimate auto-pilot mafia game. I of course would encourage more active and direct participation, for your own fun and entertainment, but Pizza always needs moar bodies for the fire.

No, Big New Yorker would require less of an autopilot and more of an active player if you intend to accomplish anything at night.

You can get by for a while just fine doing nothing but you won't gain needed experience and you won't gain much wealth. You're also likely to be picked off as no one is working with you so you have no protection and no one has any reason to want you alive.

Ah yes, I hear you, that's most certainly true.

Currently Star Wars is in the lead in the poll, and even a casual glance at the list of players tells me that many of them came just for the Star Wars game. Second place in the poll is "either one is fine."

Presently there's not enough interest in just the Big New Yorker to sustain such a game, as it will admittedly be more involved than this one. The original concept threads for both had 33 interesteds for Star Wars and only 22 I think for Big New Yorker; interest in the Big New Yorker would have to be at least double that before it had a chance of going very well. You have to have a lot of interested committed players or else it would get boring. A lot of death, yes, but a lot of tedious "let's get rid of another lurker/inactive person" death. You have to have more enthusiasm than what I've gotten so far, otherwise it will compromise the integrity of the game.

I tell you what, if this game goes well, then it will prove I am ready to handle a game such as the Big New Yorker, which was ridiculous in it's ambition to have as many players as I wanted, with the rule complexity I envisioned.

We've had a number of talks on the subject over the years, each time the org has been in favour of keeping the standard avatar TW themed only. The URL avatar can be what you want. Go nuts. However, if its not suitable for a child to see it, don't do it. We are a PG-13 board.

I'd also like everyone to be familiar with the gameroom rules. There is no swearing at all here. Other parts you can get away with minor words, but here there are to be none. Replace anything you want with either *****, for each letter, you can't say, for example p**** for pever, it has to be *****. The classy way, however, if you have to, is to substitute a nice little flower. :daisy: The code for that is: :daisy:

We also have some rules, like Rule #1. You should go learn that.

Basically, if you don't read your invitation within a week, you're too busy to play mafia anyway. Sign-ups will close when I am done passing out Role PMs, which should be 66% completed within the hour.

My dreams of ruling the mightiest mafia empire of them all are at an end, but I got close enough. I think if the gameroom hadn't been so dead when I started this thing, I could have passed 80 or 90 players by now, and it would definitely have warranted a Big New Yorker.

Perhaps next year sometime when this place is bursting with players, as I hope it will be.

Thanks for the effort anyway. A bunch of those people I mentioned are on the do not invite me list, and a bunch more have been absent for ages. I'm not surprised I didn't get those people, but man, this game would have been so much more awesome with at least a few of them aboard. These are some quality personalities to add to this already excellent group.
