Spent far too much time configuring a client's DSL today. Oh. Your. God.

Just say no to DSL.

Just say no to AT&T.

Friends don't let friends use DSL. 'Nuff said.

Can't comment on AT&T, but I have Verizon DSL and have had no problems with it and speeds are consistently just below what was advertised. Sure, my cable modem was faster- but this is far cheaper, especially considering they jack up the rates even more if you don't have cable TV.... which I don't.

What sorts of problems did you have?

Woah, with my latest provider I got a short code that I could enter in the router and it would configure itself, then I just had to change the IPs to what I wanted on my home network and it worked.
Except for the part where the first technician somehow connected me to my neighbor's connection, knocking her connection out completely, but they sent another one who solved it. :laugh4:

I just entered my username and password into my router and I was connected. If I had forked out the extra cash for one of my ISP's modems then it would have been even easier, I would have just plugged it in and been set. What do you use if not DSL? Cable around here is far more expensive than DSL.
