As many of you know I am very smart

What many of you do not is that I have basically decided I want to be an attorney after a pretty good practrice LSAT (158!) and the realzation that I'm simply not a science guy

After telling some buddies a friend of mine basically told me that I would simply be holding the country back, lawyers are a waste, profession is a blood bath anyway

So why all the lawyer hate? Do people not realize without them I could go around and just take what I wanted?

Just some rambilings after a test take it FWIW

Being a lawyer would be boring, too much legal jargon, bla bla who cares.

Much better to be a detective, like Columbo.

But what if you like the jargon?

I can read court cases all day. I could care less about DNA replication or the internal workings of a cricut. Not that these are not noble. It is simply I have a burning passion for law and after a couple of years of college I have decided this is what I want to do.

Go with law it it is what you love, of course.

Imma be the 40-something year old troubled detective that spends his life dedicated to his work and drowns his sorrows every day because his left left him becaus of it, and goes on various misadventures with his maverick thinking and disrespect for the rules cause he likes how things were done back in the day.

Good for you. Under that 'I'm too cool for grammar' persona lies a sharp mind.

I think that I should have retrained as a lawyer and done a conversion course. Rather than waste my days in a sterile courtroom trying to prove some person is innocent to a bunch of malcontents I'd have gone straight for corporate law...

Back to the point...

Although there are few useful lawyers most are self serving. Imagine doing to a Doctor who persuades you to go and have a lot of expensive tests, and then go and see his mate the surgeon for an operation. After it all, you're a lot poorer and with worse health. That's what lawyers do - first one is the solicitor, second one is the barrister.

Lawyers never a give a quick straight answer - when they're on the clock. They can be very incisive and brief when not though (the ones at work for example).

So why all the lawyer hate?

Why do people dislike smart, good looking and succesful people who get all they want without much effort?

Jealousy, SFTS, it's all just jealousy.

Just remember that there are two kinds of people: jurists and lesser beings.

Lawyers are the profession of Jack-in-office. You know that type that can ruin your life because you only did things 99% correct.
You see, as a lawyer, you can go around and take what you want and be legally correct while doing it (so even the mob justice won't work). Or so the perception goes. :juggle2:

LAWYER, n. One skilled in circumvention of the law.

I will have to look into that. I'm sure there's some old LSAT's around campus somewhere.

I will beat your score. And then I will rub it in your face. Because I am what I am.
